Hey people.

I'm hoping to repair the damage to my ultralite alloys next weekend and was wondering if anyone has got any advice on how to go about it?

I've already ordered this:
http://www.ebay.co.u...984.m1497.l2649

The alloy is badly scraped (not cause of my bad parking! Lol) so was planning on using sand paper. Anyone know whats the best grit to start off with and end with to get a smooth finish?

Cheers
Carl

buy a new wheel, it will be buckled! it COULD also be cracked, so on that count i wouldnt be trying to repair a damaged wheel, if it is as bad as is in my head.

Definitely not as bad as in your head! Lol. Scrapped along the outer rim. Wheel looks like it just scrapped along curb. Doesn't look like the wheel hit the curb hard as there's no cracks in it. When I get my mini back from painters, I'll take the wheel off and post some pics

Probably for the best although i restored my boys supalights and they came up well and sold easily.

They will check out the state of the wheel and the finish should be as good as new. I used Wheel Works in Crawley to refurb my last Passats wheels and they came out good as new. £260 all in. And these were 17" wheels.

oh ok. I've been thinking about doing it myself as i've got the alloy paint and lacquer but i've just got my mini painted so thought might as well get it all done professionally. Hopefully its not too big of a job. I have 13'' wheels so i'm hoping for £150 or cheaper.

I'll give them a call tomorrow to see if i could get a quote. Want to get them sorted before L2B...

When i get them done, I hope to post up before and after pics =]

The price i was quoted  was for all wheels up to 18" but its worth getting a quote to see if they will do it cheaper. The results though were worth it.

oh ok. Only my back and front left wheels are scraped but I think I'll get them all done if I was to get them sorted.  Glad the results were worth it =]

For close to 192 you could buy  a completely  new set!

Then sell your 'curbed' ones on.....

Did you try Lepsosns in Kent? I used them for some huge BMW split rims a few years ago, very good job and good price too.

It's still quite a bit cheaper to get them repaired. They'll look brand new anyways when done :)

They quoted me more. £60 per wheel plus £40 storage since I would have to leave the car with them. Thanks anyways tho :)
