Hi all,

just wondering if this can be used over my rustoleum paint job to get a shinier finish ??

Supposed to be a good clearcoat, I would be careful though as clear is normally painted over base within a short timeframe so that it adheres properly and you need to also make sure it doesn't react with rustoleum. Clear in aerosols is also very thin and would need a lot of coats to be able to flat and polish it.

dont waste ur money and time with this junk mate!!!!!

there isnt any good 1k lacquer available. i painted a old car in it yrs ago when 1st started painting and put gun fulls on the damn panels and still managed to rub through... poxy stuff goes flat in a blink of an eye and will shrink and crack!!!

awful stuff, upol dont make good lacquer anyway. and u dont no what that lacquer in the can is.

best company i ever used it from was ici. prob best u can get for 1k. but still goes flat. there 2k ms 596 lacquer is pretty good tho. but much better hs lacquers out there.

if ur looking at cans why not get some 2k lacquer in a can???

roller paint is a type of synthetic, 1k is cellulose, they dont mix, reactions galore.

I have used upol smart clear 1k rfu clearcoat but only in a spraygun, its pretty good but is acrylic not cellulose, but I don't think it will go over rustoleum.

Thanks for the replies,  I have looked at the rustoleum clear stuff but I will see how it buffs up before deciding on resorting to clear, thanks.

You cannot put 1 or 2k clear over rustoleum regardless, it would react and bubble up, imagine what happens when you use paint stripper and you get the idea
