Can anyone recommend any decent machine shops in Essex / Herts or London for the A Series?
I'm looking to rebuild an engine over the next year and would prefer to use a machine shop that I can bring the items to rather than couriering back and forth all the time.

I think it's probably better to build up a rapport with the person doing the work too. I'm aiming to do this the proper way with dummy builds and checking as I go along, so there are going to be numerous stages to the machining and build.

I'm still undecided on an engine spec as yet, but figured that it's better to find the preferred machinist first, so I can discuss options and costs to drive the final build spec.

Anyone that has used any services in the areas mentioned care to put some names forward?

Cheers

Dartford Rebore I have used for skimming and cleaning of a head. Do all things to do with machining. I was happy with service and cost. And just over the QE2 bridge 5 mins from bluewater

I can only comment on Gosnay's, they are superb widely used by race teams not cheap but you get what you pay for. They recently line bored my crank caps and reprofiled my thrust faces did a great job. Only thing to ask is how long it will take as they are always very busy.

They have a huge stock of bearings and key components in stock, again check their price with others on line.

in summary great quality but at a quality price

Thanks peeps. That's three more than I had before. Thurston would probably be my most local, I'll research them. Though I'll not rule anyone out before looking into it properly.
