If the auctions on a lager day I may have a little flutter .......then get it wall mounted and stuffed

:D

Are you actually a secret millionaire or something? You must be in order to have a house big enough for all your children, your collection of minis, and to be able wall mount a mini as well!!

Nahhhhh.... I'l wall mount it in the lounge and hope the Mrs doesnt notice

Best of luck for the auction Steve. I hope you make a few hundred million so that you can buy the rights to the statue of liberty. The young'un's gave you a good idea there!

Some of your attitudes are perplexing. I would agree that respect is earned, but age quite frankly is irrelevant... Just because somebody is younger than anybody else, doesn't warrant that you can simply talk in a derogatory manner.

Steve, i apologise profusely for questioning your motives and jumping to conclusions. Actually what you have done really is admirable, i shouldn't have been so scrutinising about your actions to date. I was definitely having one of those days...!

I wish you the best of luck with your auction.

Thom

The way i see it, if the mini was left in the tunnels it would still be there rotting away into nothing. Good on the bloke for rescuing it. Hopefully this way it will either be restored to its former glory or displayed for the public to see.

There is no need for tearing into him like this especially calling him a thief! Why do people have to act like that is a disgrace.

If people are so concerned to what may happen the the mini, bid on it.

Steve thanks for actually saving it from the tunnels.

Erm hence why I actually said "that's not to say that anyone should be disrespected!". And if you agree with the notion that respect is earned, then it stands to reason that the longer you have been alive, then the longer you have been around to earn such respect. Therefore age has to be of some relevance, although as I also previously stated it's not the only factor either. I really don't see why anyone would find that perplexing.

As for the mini, I think some people need something of a reality check here.

As far as I'm aware the Longbridge site is under redevelopment and already has a supermarket built on part of it. If it had remained in the tunnel, then far from the mini being forever buried in some kind of sentimental tomb like time capsule, the entire site would have inevitably been cleared at some stage, to make way for a retail or social housing development or whatever. Meaning said mini would have been treated as industrial debris and cleared away accordingly . At least this way the history of this mini has a chance to live on and be enjoyed by others.

Amen to that.
Thanks Steve, you've given a lot of people who are intrigued with the history of minis the ability to see something that would have been destroyed.

Hope you make a killing mate.

Good luck with the auction Steve.

As has been said until everyones blue in the face.  If it wasn't rescued it would be scrap/destroyed by now so amen to rescuing it.

Devils advocate...you saved it and are now selling it on so its bound to get a mixed response

I'm glad it was saved but think the interest in it and yeahhh the value (welcome to the real world) not just now but also in the future is with keeping it 'as is' and as soon as someone restores it the value/interest will go down.

Those pics of it in the tunnel are whats in peoples minds

Its a part of the mini history file
