At the end of the day its your mini and you can do what the **** you want with it... I just personally dont see why the mini was moved in the first time. Fait enough maybe you wanted a iconic piece of history... Maybe you wanted the profit. Personally im going for the profit side of it. Weather you like my views or not I can state them. I just hope someone (possibly a museum) puts it where everyone can see it. hopefully its not sold to someone who wants to restore it!
id like someone to explain how its a iconic piece of history

Hold on, I think I speak for all of us when I say, are you the real Rowan Atkinson?
I think that's the real issue here.
who knows ...could be

And as for the little boy who pays his way in life stop crying because someone had a better idea/ more motivation than you. Happens everyday in my world ( I'm a product designer ) you soon learn to join forces with these people not be jealous of them
I can sit and watch this all night, I love it

I am not at all jealous! like I said in my previous post i persoanlly didnt have much problem with him moving the mini because he said he was going to restore it! i just think he had no intention of making this an actual project. But hey we can all presume... Tell me why this isnt a iconic piece of history? if it wasnt then why is it all over google and over sites?

Steve the more this is debated the more publicity the auction is going to get and the more people who will turn up/tune in to bid, so hopefully your cover your costs and make tidy profit so you can have you week in the sun this year

Jeez, it's just a knackered old Mini, what's historical about it?
Good luck with the sale.

So eventually it would have just been forgotten about??
without going back and reading each page of the various threads... eventually it would have been encased in concrete/scraped when the tunnels were filled in.

the tunnels are falling in there was a massive colapse just 20 meters from the mini thats one of the reasons why i got it out

All the other posters just take a step back for a moment and consider.
If left in the tunnel it would be no more. The tunnel no longer exists, it has been collapsed, the ground is now being built over. So the shell would either be part of the foundations or removed and sent for scrap.
Steve got permission from the site owners to have the shell, so legally it is his 100% to do with as he wishes.
Steve used his money to extract and transport the shell, store it and take it to shows. He gives his time freely to show it privately to people who really care to see it.
It is his to do with as he pleases.
Those of us who worked at Longbridge who really care would have loved it to be at Pride of Longbridge, but those organisers for reasons known only to them turned their backs on this.
As Steve says upto now no museum has expressed any interest in this.
So now there is an opportunity for anyone to buy it, take over the responsibility for it, and do as they please with it.
Steve stay strong, you did and are doing the right thing. Best of luck with the sale.
