I'm with the group of people who believe it should have been left in the tunnel. I mean, who wants to look at it and appreciate a nice bit of history anyway? It should have been left down there to rot and be forgotten about.

And as for having the initiative and drive to actually get permission from the multitude of people with an interest to get the car out, how dare you! You should be ashamed of yourself!

The worst bit for me though is thinking you can sell your own property! I just don't know where you get off! If someone came up to me and asked to buy one of my cars I'd send them away post haste, I'm just not that kind of person. The things you own should be given away for free!

I'm being sarcastic.

Yes I am 16! And believe it or not I am not one of the people! This was completely different to a barn find it was there for ages and where it should belong!. Like many other members should agree! This should e given away or possibly sold to someone for the price of petrol not the possible thousands you can make from it! Believe it or not I pay my way in life like I brought my mini a few days ago! Maybe you should find out the rest of the info before you judge someone! I'd expect something better from someone so called a adult who loves minis just like any other mini fan! You've destroyed history!

No I wouldn't give away pocket money away, maybe because I don't get pocket money! And why not work out the cost of petrol ad transport and sell it for that no Because you want to invite as many members to own the most historical minis out there! Your meant to be an adult an you act like a child!

I'm not so much annoyed at the fact that you took the mini! That's the little bit!!! The fact is that your trying to make money from it auctioning it... The car is that valuable that it will attract at lot of people! I hope the people who do buy it think about it and care for such and iconic car!

I honestly don't see how this is different to a barn find. I saw the photos of the mini in the tunnel, I thought "man, I'd love to have that! Maybe we should get a trailer and go get it!" then I carried on with my life.

This guy saw it and thought "that needs to be saved" then he bloody saved it! HE took the initiative. That makes it HIS. That's all there is to it.

With regards to its historical value, what do you say to the guy who's talking in another thread about selling a 1959 pre production mini with most of its parts removed? There are so many minis with 'historical value'. They're not museum pieces, they're cars, if I could have this I'd get it put straight and get driving it. It's how it's meant to be.

As for leaving it down in the tunnel, it would either have turned to dust, or it would have been crushed as soon as someone wanted the space for storage!

get a grip

Get a grip! Believe it or not many people enjoy history!. Why should I be told to get a grip!. Your on the side of someone who's taken something that made history! Weather he had the right to take it or not it should have been left!. I think I am speaking for many of the people on this forum and only one of the people who intend of actually speaking out!
