He should be banned for making personal remarks to people when he doesn't know their background? He's been accused of theft (I don't think he'd have got out with it if he didn't have permission), accused of making profit from his car (God forbid), attacked for deciding to sell it after saying he would restore it (go to ebay, search mini project) and many more things. If I was him I'd be pretty annoyed too. He's even offering to show it off to people, free of charge.

Whatever you're opinion of it being right or wrong to remove it from the tunnel is irrelevant. It would be nothing less than scrap if he hadn't took the time and put the money in to remove it. If it was me, I'd be happy to gain as much money from it as possible. If you suddenly found out your Mini had a famous past and increased ten times in value overnight, would you sell it for it's previous value? If he can make thousands from it, then fair play to him, its money in the bank which I'm sure would be great news for his family or whatever he chooses to do with it - all the haters on here don't seem to think of his background, that he's just in it for 'mindless profit'. And what a shame he hasn't gave it away to a museum - if they wanted it, they could have made the calls to take ownership of it from the tunnels.

Steve, I hope you make a lot from the sale, that it helps you out for the future and that the proceeds donated to a good charity are used well. Hopefully it goes to a good owner, and they don't get attacked on a forum if they choose to either restore it or keep it as is. I'd be interested in the open day, would be great to see it.

I have read this whole thread and blimey what a lot of fuss! I think Steve is great for getting the old girl out of that dark dingy tunnel that car deserved to see the daylight it was intended to see whether to be restored or not personnaly i would restore all the interior and mechanics to make it legal and leave all the body scars but that's just me. It is one of the most iconic minis of late after the great story behind it. Good on you Steve it's up to you what you do with it afterall you were the only person who cared about saving her! I wish you well with the sale and hope all goes well with everything! :proud:

I have to say this thread really does show the absolute worst of this forum. There are plenty of knowledgeable, helpful and polite people here but there are also plenty of people who really do need to grow up and learn some manners.

You can disagree without being disagreeable, though you wouldn't believe it sometimes

Hi all,

My name is Samuel Davies and I am a massive Mini fan and have been since I can remember!

I have been sitting on an idea for some years now and think that this may be the opportunity to share it.

I am considering setting up a syndicate to purchase the Long bridge tunnel mini........... Is this something that everyone would look to get involved with?? As i believe it could be done fo as little as £1.00 each if not less.

There is alot more to it my idea and the bigger plan but I believe its our duty as Mini mad humans and british citizens to protect this car from falling into the wrong hands and disapeaing into a collection to never be seen again!

I feel very strongly and passionatly about what im talking about and also feel the idea I have (which this car would be the building block of) could really work and create a unique and very desireble meseaum for future generations to enjoy as we all so far.

Let me know your thoughts please. I can be contacted on [email protected] or here.

Kind regards

Samuel

I believe I am so called one of these haters!. As you may have seen shifty was just asking for proof of the charity?. And personally I won't hold my breath to it!. You have already shown that you are a man of change!. I for one won't be missing you on here I think you have been very disrespectful and very rude towards other members who have had the right to an opinion!.

hi sam as the current owner of the mini I think you have a good idea ....on paper..... I have offered this mini to whoever wanted to show it in a museum and safe environment ..the pride of longbridge are trying to hijack it for a museum that is never going to happen at longbridge because unlike them I have been in meeting with the developers at longbridge and they say there are no plans for any museum or heritage centre at longbridge ...so best of luck with you idea ..I really do like to see people being pro active and getting of there backsides and doing something rather than sitting there and taking the pxxs

best of luck steve
