Ok just been doing some digging on this charity thing..

As far as I can tell the only person thats made any reference to it is Steve?  Again if i'm wrong please correct me?

The facebook quotes are..

-

I for one understand the need for an old relic to come to life, but! I help out at Acorns where there will be a donation from the sale. Acorns is a charity run hospice for children and their families. Imagine being in the position of these families ... and having no where to go for support and understanding. In the long run... Which is most important? I know where my loyalty lies, thank you in advance for your donation.

This is the Charity

http://www.acorns.org.uk/

And this is a quote from steve(via facebook)

steven when isaid help with the car i didnt mean with the resto ive had lots of offers i meant offers of how we can use it as a tool to raise money for the acorns to match the £24,000 the ex employees donated from their redundency ...thats what i meant thats why i got it out to highlight the way the company ended up ...people are missing the point

I've had a look at the Acorns site and there's no mention of any donation, equally on the Silverstone site there's no mention of any donation(again I'm happy to be corrected)

My big concern over this charitable donation is the lack of publicity, charity auctions always raise more money that 'normal' ones.  Surely it would be in everyones interests to shout this from the roof tops?

I'm sure if Silverstone knew then they would do a deal on their fees to help out.

All this would with raising the £24k that I've seen quoted.

jesus Christ are you lot out to lynch me or something how can there be any mention of any donation when I only mentioned it last week and as for a figure ...shifty I can see where you got your name ....I have to register the donation figure when its made ..even you cant be so stupid as to see the auction hasn't happened yet so how can there be a donation ...blimey some people have really got it in for me and trying to have a bit of a smear campaign as ime using the mini for my own profit ...there are 8 weeks til the auction just wait and see how it goes and who said anything about disclosing the auction fees anyway .....some people must have to much time on their hands I think

I think you'll find that Shifty is a well respected member of this forum... All he has done is state that he has not seen any evidence of a charity donation, that you are claiming to be able to provide.

Lets clear this up, I'm not a 'hater', far from it.  I really don't care how much money you will(or won't make out of this).  Matter of fact if I were in your shoes I'd be looking to maximise my earnings from this.

There were no snide intentions in my 'digging' I was just trying to find out where the charity references came from.  Perhaps 'digging' was the wrong choice of words, I just had a quick look at a few old posts, nothing major.

I'm no accountant or expert on tax matters but I'm fairly sure that there are tax benefits to charitable donations.  Setting things in place before the auction would (possibly) make life a bit easier.  Its also going to help increase the final amount raised as well.

At no time did I wish to question your charitable intentions how much you give is of no concern of mine.  I don't need to speak to anyone to confirm this.
