+1At the end of the day its your mini and you can do what the **** you want with it... I just personally dont see why the mini was moved in the first time. Fait enough maybe you wanted a iconic piece of history... Maybe you wanted the profit. Personally im going for the profit side of it. Weather you like my views or not I can state them. I just hope someone (possibly a museum) puts it where everyone can see it. hopefully its not sold to someone who wants to restore it!

So just to be clear..
The proceeds from the auction are going to charity or have I miss-understood?

I really dont see what the fuss is about, plenty of people make money out of mini's i dont see them being chastised and spoken to in the way Steve is.
At the end of the day its just a rusty beat up clubman its not really the last mini to leave longbridge its simply being sensationalized and if someone is stupid enough to pay 2k for it let alone 26k then more fool them and fair play to Steve he got off his backside and will make some cash from it something i suspect the haters really wanted to do.
If he wants to give any money to charity thats down to him and sod all to do with anyone else.

I'm just trying to help, my understanding(and I am yet to be corrected) is that the proceeds will be going to a rover charity?
No sane person could object to a charity being the ones making money from this.

No sane person could object to steve making money from this, if he had not rescued it it would have been crushed no one else could be bothered, if he wants to give money from this to charity then fair play if not then again fair play it is after all HIS car.

Again, I'd have to agree, If I were in the same position I'd be making money out this.
From what I understand there's a charitable concern behind this, that's something that will shut the doubters up.

Dont think i am having a pop at you shifty i am not.
The doubters can think what they like, kick and scream and throw the toys out their prams if they were that concerned they should have gone and got it themselves, if they think the money should go to charity then they should have spent their time getting it out and donating it.

Ok just been doing some digging on this charity thing..
As far as I can tell the only person thats made any reference to it is Steve? Again if i'm wrong please correct me?
The facebook quotes are..
-
I for one understand the need for an old relic to come to life, but! I help out at Acorns where there will be a donation from the sale. Acorns is a charity run hospice for children and their families. Imagine being in the position of these families ... and having no where to go for support and understanding. In the long run... Which is most important? I know where my loyalty lies, thank you in advance for your donation.
This is the Charity
And this is a quote from steve(via facebook)
steven when isaid help with the car i didnt mean with the resto ive had lots of offers i meant offers of how we can use it as a tool to raise money for the acorns to match the £24,000 the ex employees donated from their redundency ...thats what i meant thats why i got it out to highlight the way the company ended up ...people are missing the point
I've had a look at the Acorns site and there's no mention of any donation, equally on the Silverstone site there's no mention of any donation(again I'm happy to be corrected)
My big concern over this charitable donation is the lack of publicity, charity auctions always raise more money that 'normal' ones. Surely it would be in everyones interests to shout this from the roof tops?
I'm sure if Silverstone knew then they would do a deal on their fees to help out.
All this would with raising the £24k that I've seen quoted.
