as an adult i have the right to change my mind ....now get to bed
You really are childish. You just couldn't refrain yourself from doing it could you!. Yes as a adult you have the right to change your mind!. But to be honest you never was really going to keep it was you?. And for the fact of £20k pfft never in the money side of it?
I find this post rather amusing. You have called Steve childish and then accused steve of only being in it for the profit with no proof, only your opinion. Pot, kettle. If you want this respect you so desperately crave stop making childish accusations with no evidence.
And what if Steve is in it for the money?? Do you know him personally? Please, answer me this; What would you say if steve had brought this car up with the real intention of restoring it and he lost his job? His house is being repossessed? He has a disabled family member and he needs the money to help with medical care? Extreme circumstances, yes, but do you know for sure this hasn't happened? No, you don't! and this is whats annoying me. You are blindly making accusations without knowing anything about steve. You get no respect from me until you go and change the way you display you opinions.
I think everyone needs to come to the realisation that this is Steve's car, not yours. Share your opinion, thats fine, I enjoy reading each side of the argument whilst also debating in a civilised manor, but dont make wild accusations or use abusive language towards anyone. That goes for everyone.
This mini is in the public eye big time now and we all need to realise that a lot of attention may come this way and what will they say if they see a thread like this? what brush does that tarnish the mini community with? We all bicker and insult one another? Its really not making this community inviting to anyone who sees a thread like this.

1st please let me say, the image used by the press isn't mine, but another explorers.
During the call Steven made to me, he did say he was happy to pay for the image used, which is good of him.
Also from the call, which I don't think has been put quite into words yet, he is aiming to match the £24,000 that was initially donated by the Rover workers, To quote Steve's recent facebook post, he puts it better...
when i said help with the car i didnt mean with the resto ive had lots of offers i meant offers of how we can use it as a tool to raise money for the acorns to match the £24,000 the ex employees donated from their redundency ...thats what i meant thats why i got it out to highlight the way the company ended up ...people are missing the point [in context:
https://www.facebook.com/b31voices/posts/468475666560653 ]
If this had been said initially I think a lot of people (including myself) would have had a different attitude towards the recovery and the sale of the car.
I think it's a great thing that you are trying to raise the same as the Rover employees donated to the charity, if you can make £24,000 for the Acorns Charity then so be it. And yes, it certainly has raised the profile of the workers.
I am looking forward to meeting you Steven now I understand the reason you are doing it and am looking forward to talking to you more about your families history and your time at the factory.

Any of you who dont want it dragged out, just pretend it's still down there. You will have no way of proving it's not, you can't get there anymore. And we have another (now historically important) mini in existence!
suppose that would make it schrodinger's mini

Well done Steve, up to you how you manage the ownership of this car. Good to see you have also highlighted the charity which many people outside of the scene would not know about.
Also, don't forget it is also publicising our great cars, hopefully there will be renewed public interest in all things Mini including the clubman.
Good luck, I'm going to have a punt and well done.

If Steve didn't pull it out when he did, it would either be buried down there forever, or recycled into a Nissan or a bean tin.
Just to point out, I make Nissan car panels for a living and there is no way in hell that metal would pass my quality checks.

So just to be clear..
The proceeds from the auction are going to charity or have I miss-understood?
