It's not really the fact that you're making money off it that's winding everyone up. It's obvious that it's goon to make money at auction, it's almost insulting that yore trying to convince us otherwise. It's more the fact that most of your statements seem contradictory to any plans, and people feel like they are being lied to about it.
The conversation seems to have turned to derelict-uk about weather or not he was legally there, he hasn't committed an actual crime, he walked onto an open property and took some pictures. Damaging nothing and stealing nothing. Yes, you had permission to take it from there and people didn't agree, but most of those people have been judged as jealous of what you've got out of it, which I think is also unfair.
None of this is an argument aimed at anyone

After the personal attacks on people on here about their age etc and suddenly asking what the percentage being donated to charity is too personal a question?

now the severn bridge has that new paint job and doesn't need doing every year the men could be employed to keep painting the mini to stop it rusting away
Do you mean the fourth rail bridge, or has the Severn road bridge undergone the same treatment these days? Either way, I agree it could be a good employment opportunity, or alternatively they could just use the same paint technology that they use on the fourth rail bridge, which means it now only needs painting every 25 years!
you could be right, it's a bit far north for me

I thought so! But to be fair to you, from your perspective I suppose Bristol and Edinburgh are both "The North" and therefore effectively the same place!!

Yes it was rude, but it was my feelings when I first saw it was up for auction. A knee jerk reaction you could say. calling you a ******* might have been a bit much, but I am still not exactly happy about it.

This is all very interesting.
I think, Steve, you are well in your right to sell it on. Drag it out the tunnel and do whatever you like with it, no one else bothered to.
Also to auction it, is probably the fairest way you could get rid of it. Gives everyone a equal opportunity to buy it and whoever wants it the most, wins.
I would definitely do the same. A few pats on the back for giving it to a museum or £5000+? I know what i would chose, and at that price its going to end up in the right hands.
good luck to you.
