Maybe one day, I will dive in the canal along the BL Industries factory in Seneffe, Belgium. Just before the closing date in 1981, the legend says some Minis were pushed in the water as a mark of protest.

It was just suggested by a viewer on BBC Midlands Today it should be made into a sculpture and displayed in the city to represent Birminghams former car industry.
Mini out in the open all weathers 24/7, it would be a pile of dust within a few years lol
I think that's the most sensible idea I've heard so far, I think it would look fantastic mounted on a plinth in front of New Street station. Would also help with attracting tourists too, it would certainly make me visit Birmingham! Obviously it would have to be hot dip galvanised first though, then coated in epoxy primer, zinc primer, stone chip, top coat and waxoyled in all the usual places every year!!

Hmmm maybe hire a dredger and a team of frogmen instead, I really wouldn't recommend diving in just wearing speedos though, I fell in a canal many years ago and I've never smelled the same since!!

.and as for breaking into closed factories and then selling the images online do you not do your own research ...trespass is trespass dont matter how much you sugar coat it adam ..at least i had permission
1st off, who said I broke in? It was Rover's/SAIC's shitty security that left it WIDE open for anyone to go into. The fact I sat in a complete MG with the keys in the ignition shows how much of a lack of care they had at that time. I never broke anything, I am not going to go into details but it took them 3 months to use their CCTV correctly to view we entered right under their noses through a point of entry that was quite simply ridiculous. Once inside the compound, EVERY door was unlocked, the car entry/exits were open, it was a free roam. I spent 10 hours in there one day due to the fact security only drove round the parameter, they never came inside the buildings.
Selling on the images? Apart from one image that was used in the Adelaide Sunday Mail (the reporter phoned me up from Australia to ask permission to use my image and fair to them, pay me for the use), I have not sold any other image from Rover, the fact they phoned me and ASKED to use my photo means more to me than any money, When people use my images without permission, that pisses me off and is quite simply, not that you will like it, theft.
Trespass is trespass, I totally agree, if SAIC had given a toss about Longbridge in 2007, then maybe the people who were caught in there (not me) would have been prosecuted, but all that happened was the police were called, the police came and said that it was a civil matter, not a criminal one. SAIC aren't a small company and could have easily taken them or any of us to court but they haven't as it's petty and they know that all we did was record a history that many old employees appreciate.
Not that you will believe me but in the 6 years since I have been there, I have spoken to many old employees who have seen my images (and other explorers images) and they all have thanked us for getting the pictures (which are FREE to view on my website, www.photoaddiction.co.uk) of the plant before the majority of it was demolished.
As previously said, I don't do it for profit, it is to record history, a hobby.
I ask you again though, how much of a percentage are you donating to the Acorns Charity? If you randomly make £28,000, will you be giving £24,000 to match the same total the 6000 received in redudency payments that they donated to the Acorns Charity?
The £4,000 should cover your removal costs and listing costs at the premier Silverstone Auction house.

now the severn bridge has that new paint job and doesn't need doing every year the men could be employed to keep painting the mini to stop it rusting away

Do you mean the fourth rail bridge, or has the Severn road bridge undergone the same treatment these days? Either way, I agree it could be a good employment opportunity, or alternatively they could just use the same paint technology that they use on the fourth rail bridge, which means it now only needs painting every 25 years!

That's assuming it's not nicked and weighed in for scrap...
Yeah good point, in which case it might be best to mount on a plinth on top of a very tall pillar!!

I have requested permission to visit. As I said in the PM, it will be a good opportunity to talk in person for both sides to understand each reasons without being behind a computer. And a good opportunity to see it for one last time (possibly).
