I have bought other projects so will have to pass on this now.

I'm not a fan of auctions, I have spent years at car auctions and for my own car I like to meet the seller and strike a deal we are both happy with.

At auctions stuff like this either booms or busts, I hope for the seller it's not a bust.

I for one would not pay the £20,000 he wanted for it!

I'm not so much annoyed at the fact that you took the mini! That's the little bit!!! The fact is that your trying to make money from it auctioning it... The car is that valuable that it will attract at lot of people! I hope the people who do buy it think about it and care for such and iconic car!

who said ime going to make money ime taking a gamble and could actually LOSE  money ..its going in with NO RESERVE it could sell for £100 then ime well out of pocket believe me just ask an adult how it all works

You're not going to loose money though are you? You know that, be honest  ;D

sorry i dont have a crystal ball

I did'nt mean that to be annoying sowwy :shy:

Just seen this on the BBC, thought the need to sign back in and give my 2 cents...

So the whole thing about you 'never selling it, for any amount' was just ******* then?

If you don't have time to restore it yourself, you could always donate it to Gaydon or Coventry transport museum.

a lot of good comments as usual and some daft ones as usual but ime sure if i would of give the mini to someone i would of been slated for that aswell..damned if you do damned if dont .....some great comments though guys please keep them coming they make some great reading

Rubbish, if you donated it to a museum, people would have applauded your decision, You know what, you could have given it back to Longbridge and they could have put it in their showroom as a history section.

But of course, you thought of profit first.

You say it could go for £100, but that is £100 more than you paid for it, I don't think you should make any money out of this at all. It would be nice if the sale does go through, that you could give all the profit to a local Longbridge charity. I really dispise the fact you have taken something that has become so iconic at sold it for your gain, however little you seem to think it might go for.

Let's not forget it wouldn't of become iconic if Steve hadn't of pulled it out, that earns him the right to do what ever he wants to do with it

He also needs to cover his expences, the mini didn't fly out on its own

err, it started it's life of fame when I first took a photo of it and put it on 28dayslater. That thread then went viral and was posted in car forums all over the world, people had heard rumors of the tunnels but until us explorers went in and photographed them, many had never seen them. After a couple of months, mini magazine got in touch with me to publish a small feature on the Mini in May 2007 (my avatar is my pic in the mag)...

He hasn't earned the right to do anything with it, all he did was remove it on the agreement he was going to restore it, but that hasn't happened.

I think this is the bad thing with forums.. They are open to everyone so all of the absolute brain dead monkeys that are in The world can be on here.. You have to look hard nowadays to find people that are well brought up and respect other people's ideas and things.

But I bet you none of these people wouldn't ever say what they have on here to your face;) compu-ninja comes to mind..

I'm so glad you hauled the ole girl out. You obviously have a connection to it, and why leave it to rot?

Just seen the feature on Midlands Today. Well done on removing it, I was lucky enough to see it at Bingley in Jan, something I wouldn't have been able to do if it was still rotting away in the tunnel.

You rescued it and it's yours to do what you like with.

Well done for offering to donate a percentage of the final sale price to Acorns Children's Hospice and best of luck with the auction.

Because that would have been classed as stealing.

I went in 2007, SAIC currently owned the site, we had no permission to be there so we were trespassing. Not criminal but if we took anything, then it would be burglary/theft.

That said, I wouldn't have taken it anyway. I go to places to record history, I don't go to pilfer artifacts, however valuable they may be. The Mini had a home in those tunnels, it wasn't harming anyone. People knew it was there from the images and even if it was sealed in there for eternity, it might have been found years later and been donated to a museum.

They will never demolish the tunnels as the factory above would subside and collapse into them. It's not just a small section, these run for over 300 meters from Lickey Road all the way down to the train tracks.

I would love to own thisand do the minimum it needs to get on the road so it still looks as if it had just been pulled out of the tunnel! As for all this slating him for rescuing it destroying history, the tunnels are being filled in anyway so it would lost forever. Also I bet most people didn't even know about it and wouldn't have known about it had the op not thought to get it out. Good luck with the auction and after all the comments made by illinformed individuals I hope you get a good price and the car goes to a good and loving home

Well you should have got permission to remove it then like Steve did because BL clearly didn't want it

Just think if you'd been a bit smarter in 2007 you could be just like Steve and stand a chance of making a few quid or have the opportunity to restore it. Just think or have you already? because all I'm seeing from you is jealousy

I never wanted to remove it, there was never a reason to remove it. I didn't want to sell it, or restore it or make any money out of it. To me, it was just another car in the factory, the factory that I had already seen thousands of shells in various states of production. But since then it has grown on me, but not to the point where I have ever thought the 'need' to remove it for whatever reason, especially not for a reason of profit anyway.

I heard he is giving a percentage of the profit to charity, how much is the percentage?

I reckon about 95% less than it ought to be!!!
