Accelerator pedal gets stiffer and stiffer to the point that it's as stiff/stiffer as the clutch.

It's also notchy the first few mm's.

I've been doing some reading:

1. Worn accelerator cable

- Using new Minispares (hif44) cable

2. Too close to manifold

- I tried different angles, got it the furthest without making a 90deg turn

3. Oil / Nylon - Will try oiling

- Not sure if related, because it gets stiffer the hotter the engine gets

4. Grounding issue melting cable

- Cable was checked, no obvious melting/wear

5. Accelerator pedal

- When the cable is out, pedal moves freely

6. Carb / pedal / cable sticking

- Individually, they move freely

Any tips?

Is the cable fitted correctly to the carb? It goes inside an halfmoon shaped thingy, and fitting it the wrong way round it gets really stiff to turn

Dont oil the cable i'd rather inspect the two throttle springs and if theres some rust/debris at the bulkhead end of the cable. You can clean it with WD40

I'll try spraying the springs with wd40. Thanks for the tip

Yup, cable is fitted the correct way. Under/inside the moon shape groove (HIF44).

Cable/bulkhead doesn't have any debris. There's a slight angle to the pedal though. It doesn't interfere with anything. And moves freely when cold.

Problem solved, hopefully for long.

Bought a Toyota (nylon coated) throttle cable inserted the threaded side to the bulkhead (longer than the Minispares brass thing = smoother curve/angle). Needed some modification to fit the clip on the carb. I also saw some Motorbike cables that looked like it'l work, wasn't nylon coated though.

Wd40 on carb springs (just a precaution, it was smooth moving prior to wd40).

Throttles smooth as any other car =)

Hi I'm from Singapore.

I've come across this forum and I've been reading this information.

(a)

I've been looking for solution on the Throttle Sticking - When Hot. I'm driving a Morris Mini Clubman 1974.

I'm using HIF44 card. 1275 A+ engine. It jerks when I step on the accelerator and a bit jammed throttle not smooth.

I've come across this forum and I've been reading this information.

Anyone possible to show me any pic on how to the layout of the throttle cable from the accelerator to the card.

Also, how to resolve this Throttle Sticking - When Hot.

(b)

When driving on high speed

Noises coming from the speedo meter like loose washer sound. Can't really find the fault

At high speed very a bit noisy inside the car. Is it due to shock absorber or worn out cone suspension?

I hope anyone can help me on this.
