Is that why quite a lot of modified turbo cars with loud dump valves often create a flame at the exhaust when changing gear under hard acceleration?

Do they??.............EXALENT lol

Yeh its great... unburned fuel passing though a red hot turbo :D :w00t:

I agree with the recirc comment. But dump valves arnt really nessacery at all. Ive heard idiots saying "ahh i gained 8hp from fitting my dump valve".. did you F___! lol

somone has told me, who has done these conversions before and knows his stuff, that you could end up empting the oil out of the engine and through the turbo if you dont fit a dump valve, as he says hes done it before.
i dont know weather this is true but he is a very good mechanic and knows his stuff, it may just be me miss understanding him!? lol

could somone clear this thought up?

cheers
josh

dump valves can be good for improving (or reducing) lag and life of your turbo, but it depends on the design of the turbo to start with. T2&3s don't need them, they already have a system that prevents the turbo from stalling (and consequently ripping blades off, or ripping out bearings - thus dumping a shed load of oil into places where it shouldn't be!), but on some cars they are absolutely necessary. The diaphragm on my Porsche one went once, and the car was undriveable!

if I had a turbo'd mini the only reason I'd fit a dump valve would be for the 1.2 corsa tryin to race.......... build up the rev's, FFFFFT......... f**k off...... lol :dozing: :(

Yep, the small end connects via a hose to the inlet manifold.
