Ever get the feeling that you'd be better off not bothering? Or maybe the quality of the pattern doorsteps leaves a lot to be desired.

Old doorstep removed. I know about the end of the crossmemebr/jacking point and plan to replace it all at some point when the outer sill is done.

New panel clamped in place. The better fitting of the 2 I had to pick from, even if I originally chopped in half a few weeks back.

Although I've got to make good the front section.

And work out how to sort the tapering door gappage.

Nice to see some more updates. Not had a look for a while and wondered what had happened after the wheel malarkey all went on. Keep it up :)

luckily, I now have a spare set of wheel/tyres, just incase. Although unfortunately its moved onto stones through car windows, and so far it taken autoglass/insurance 2 weeks to do absolutely nothing but excuses. Just as well I'm a bit handy with the Perspex and duct tape.

Anyways, got the door step issue sorted out (partly, as I think the door need dropping in the frame) and painted. No picks of it painted though, as the ******* neighbour came back from work at 3pm (can't even do a full days work) in a bad mood (face like a slapped arse) wheel spinning (with bald front tyres) his works van up and down the street, so had to pack up early.

And yes I know the section along the end of the crossmemebr doesn't look like its been plug welded. As the inner sill is being replaced its welded between the pre drilled holes on the inside, so its easier to cut though the welds when it's replaced.

Not really. With the carpet rolled up out of the way and make shift shields from some off cuts of ply, welding sparks aren't really a problem if careful. Its the grinding sparks that will do more damage to the trim, glass etc. Although I've been using old cutting disks with a modified grinder spindle in the drill, witch spins a lot slower or flap disks with the same attachment.

Haven't done anything o the 25 other than drive it. But I did manage to get the green one running again after not being run for 29 months (show how much I've lost interest in in). Predictably the battery is knackered. But all it took was some fresh fuel in the float bowl  and a boost from the jump pack for it to fire into life. So providing I can jump start it, its running. It also moves under it own power (gears are a little stiff) and the brakes work, if a little spongy (part of the reason I lost interest. But as it's movable under its own power I can now use the garage for the 25 if needs be.

Oh and the only issue I have with the 25 at the mo, apart from getting used to self parking wipers again (recently replaced the park switch) after years of have no flick wipe, is I've now got no working horn. The standard horn just barely works and the air horns (my main horn) worked today, made a funny wiring noise and then the fuse for the relay popped. I've since replaced the fuse and from what I can tell the motor in the compressor is working, but nothing more.

Well I almost had a productive day sanding down the roof, digging out the old factory sealant and gleaning the roof gutters until the police showed up spouting a load more ******* claims. And yet again suggesting as I'm not currently working (not signing on either) I should both 'get a job' and stop 'being seen' working on the cars, down the garage in the garden etc. So what does that mean? (reading between the lines) Just because some *******s don't like something and that I'm 'not working' I should be totally housebound and do ******* all. Yeah, you know what you can do with that one....

Also I was starting to get a bit pissed off with all the questions on why I was doing work to it, sort of suggesting that if it needed so much doing then wouldn't it be best to scrap it. well you know what you can do with that one as well... Unless its somehow illegal to carry out maintenance and repair work to your own vehicle from time to time.

Plus I'll take a mental note of the tyres/windows etc. (harassment?) just being put down to 'kids' and not worth them bothering with....

Anyways back to the roof. all I have to do now if wet sand it, mask off and give it a temporary coat of silver.

And because I totally forgot at the time, a few pics of the condition of the doorstep I removed a few days ago.

The other slight issue I have, is despite starting it up and making sure it was ok (or running at least) the other day, the mayfiar has decided to throw a strop. It started up lovely this morning on the jump pack (flat battery) sounded good, was able to move it out of the garage and across the shared drives etc, even if the brakes a re a little non-existent. Left it parked until mid afternoon, went to jump start it (after just putting the last of my jerry can in the tank) and nothing. Just turns over and slowly dies as the jump pack drains. So had to push the bloody thing, witch Is what I was trying to ovoid doing in the fist place.

So in-between filling the odd dent and priming the roof, I was charging up the jump pack and trying to get some sort of life out of the Mayfair. I gave up/it got too late after the 4th or 5th attempt. I've pulled apart the carb and that's ok, swapped the plugs (witch were wet) and checked over the ignition system. Although as it's electronic I can only inspect and test so much. My feeling is, as when it's turning over its just cranking, it could well be a spark issue (or lack of) issue. But I have no spares of the ignition modules and don't really want to go borrowing parts of the 25 to test.

Well as of this evening the roof is now silver again, but unfortunately due to not being able to move the minis around and the weather being more overcast than yesterday, its' come out quite patchy.

And it then decided to rain (that horrid fine stuff) about an hour after I'd finished up the last of the 2nd can.

And to add insult to a mixed day. I stuck the jump pack on the Mayfair, turned the key and it fired into like first go as if the non-starting of yesterday never happened. I even got a few starts out of the jump pack, unlike yesterday, while checking the timing witch hadn't altered.
