Does anyone know what goes over the hole with the two bolts on it?

Little update, haven't had time to do this recently. Engine peripherals fitted. I have a question perhaps someone could answer. I am fitting a new loom for a 78 car, however as you can see from the pic the starter is pre engaged. Is it easy to adapt the current loom? Also will it fit the alternator that I have on the engine? I can change the loom for a later if need be but I will need to run the three pod GT clocks.

Thanks for any advice.

Final engine bits arrived yesterday, studs, new bolts for the starter etc. Verto arm, hoping to get the subframe and engine in place soon.

Thanks both, will have some more pics tomorrow night to add to these. 1/2 term is never a good time to work on the car:), hoping to finish the engine off this week.

Looks right. Verto slave bracket - So long as you also fitted the 1/4" UNF x 13/4" long bolt with a spacer underneath it as well, can't see it in the picture. This spacer is no longer available but the steady bar metal sleeve does the job (21A1108). Also ensure the top fixing bolts are'nt too long as they can foul the flywheel! (3/8"UNC x 1" long).

Just thinking about the colour of the engine. It's a 1275 SPI engine which is red. Going in a 1275gt so I'm guessing I should paint it black or were they green?

I've a feeling they were painted black in 1275GT's...

Green would be nice :) Traditional.

A few more pics of progress:

Gearbox/diff and manifold:

Rad and hoses in place:

Engine mount, copious amounts of copper grease on the back of the mount and everysurface. I'll clean the excess off before I put the engine in. I'm a bit wary of these fixed nuts, I'm going to cover in grease, may make it part of the service schedule and tighten and untighten every 3000miles.

Slave cyliner in place:

Front subframe together now. The bottom ball joint was a pain to get into the lower arm, all tightened up now:
