Before Polishing:

After 1st cutting back, couldn't resist giving it a little buff, 2000 grit and then more buffing:

Quick question (which I have posted elsewhere, sorry mods) Is it okay to use plastic ties on the driveshaft? I tried the metal clips but they are too loose even when tightened:

I just did some. Those look The CV joints supplied by Minispares. The clips are too big, will not go small enough. I went to a motor factor and got some bands that had more holes and would go tight. I think bands are better than cable ties. With your build worth the effort I reckon. "Don't spoil the ship for a ha'porth of tar! "
Looking really fantastic.

Bought new clips from the motor factors and a pair of carpenters nail cutters as seen on you tube. Worked a treat in crimping the clips.

Great stuff. Glad you got it sorted. Coincidentally I went to Minispares today and advised them of he problem!

Some advice please, what is this for? Do I need to remove it?

Also slightly confused with these brackets and the slave cylinder. I've always been used to bolting straight to the clutch housing:

It's the lower attachment for the ignition water shield. Personally I would fit a water shield, especially on the Clubman.

That slave cylinder and bracket is for the Verto Clutch, post 1992. Short clutch lever arm. See Iluustrated Parts List

Yes, if the clutch inside is a Verto type. What engine etc are you fitting. The A+ Engine was used on the last of the 1275 GT's, but with the Pre Verto clutch. The Verto clutch was introduced to Mini around 1992. All earlier A series engines were Pre Verto.
So these had the clutch slave in the position you are familiar with, bolted direct to the top of the flywheel housing and with a long clutch lever.
Hope this helps

It's a new SPI engine from Minispares so I guess they have supplied correctly

Ah, ok. Well then it is a Verto clutch, so you will need the lever. That's why the bracket is on the front for the ignition splash shield.
It will be worth it in the end!
