Cheers Pete. I am really happy with how it came out.
Even if i do say so myself, the photos do not do it justice (ancient camera phone) I'm pleased as punch!!

Hello people.
Not having any power tools at the moment has given me the perfect chance to get some of those jobs done that i have been putting off.
So the last few days, i have been working on the Instrument cluster and the frame that holds it in the car. The cluster had already been refurbished last year but got ruined in the flood so that has been sorted out.
I still need to try and get hold of a rev counter or at least the grey face as mine has gone rusty a tad at the bottom.
Anyway a few pictures of the cluster.
The first one is of it before i refurbed it the first time. Unfortunately i don't have a picture of it after it got muddy and wet throughout but the basic story is that i stripped it all right down, replaced the speedo workings with a second hand unit, stripped and repainted all of the clips, cleaned the plastic housings, printed circuit etc. repainted the round metal facings behind the glass and then put it back together.
Before
And after
And one of the rusty old frame that i am in the process of rubbing down by hand
I will upload a photo of the finished article once i finish stripping the frame, repaint it and get the cluster screwed in with the plastic fascia panel on.
It should look pretty good.
Thanks for looking
Ben

Remind me next time you come round about the rev counter!

Ok mate. cheers.
I used the speedo working from one of the clusters you gave me and its turned out great.
It's just the rev counter face that's stopping it from being spot on.
Cheers

Hopefully mate.
Just don't know if i will get it in my 106 with a mig welder and the new top to my work bench as well as luggage!
If you need it gone though, i could always see if i can put it in Mum's shed?
I think i need to get a trailer!

I don't need it gone, I can easily store it! What I need to do is crack on and get the car to a point where it doesn't need to be on the spit!
