Can someone clear something up for me please?
The bottom part of the hinge where the pin passes through to hold the two halves together has a thick side (left) and a thin side (right)
Which side goes to the middle of the hinge rail so that i know which is the left hinge and which is the right.
Cheers
Ben

I have made 2 videos up of the bumper fit as it was better than taking a kazillion photos.
The first video is of one bumper i have and the other shows the fit of the second.
It's better now i have bent the lip down and one bumper fits better than the other. also the bootlid gaps are still quite a way out.
What i am asking is whether the gap between the bumper and the rear panel is too big? I am not happy with it but is it just like that on all Mini's?
Anyway..

I would just like to compare with how it's supposed to be before i go on.
Thanks in advance.

I think the hinges have numbers on them. The single one I looked at had LH as the last two numbers and come from the left hand side, the right one might have RH? I'm pretty sure the thin part should go on the inside.

I know you probably haven't thought about it yet, have you decided how you are going to solve the gap between the quarter panel and the boot floor just I have the same problem and can't think how to tackle it ?. Also the bumper looks a lot better
I had previously made and added a repair piece to the bottom of the quarter but it was utter crap and i was never happy with it.
I shall just cut it out and make another better one that fits

So basically I can just extend the panel to meet the floor. At least I know I can do that easily enough

SITREP:
The boot lid fit is still terrible. I can't get enough adjustment to make it look even half sensible. It seems to be since i fitted a different hinge. They are the correct sides so i know it's not that.
BUT, the hinges are from 2 different cars. Might this make a difference??
I'm not so sure...
I did bend the bumper lip down
Which made a big difference to the overall appearance but the bumper still needs some force to fit past the hinges. Not something i want to be doing when it's all painted It would definitely damage stuff.
Ill have to look into this before the paint prep starts as i can't afford to waste too much time on it now.
I moved onto finishing some of the welding on the boot floor. Today was the turn of the rear bulkhead and seat base.
There was around an 8mm gap between the bottom flange of the bulkhead and the seat base so i had to chase it down with a bolster as i welded it. So chase down, do 2 plug welds, chase the next bit down,2 plug welds and so on. It took ages but is done now.
I also plug welded the edges of the seat base to the sides of the companion bins.
Then i was fed up with the mess everywhere so put the Mini outside and spent 2 hours tidying up. I also cleared all the crap out of the Mini.
Remember this?
Well wadda you know??
Ill soak it in some vinegar and see what it comes up like.
