I agree Ben, too much technology inputted into phones.
Nokia 3310 rules anything
Snake.
Was that the one where you could compose your own ringtones?

Can't remember to be honest. It was a 'few' years ago now. You could buy lots of different cases for them.

ha ha! I just enjoy the fact that mine lasts 4-5 days on a charge and not just a few hours

What about an old camera phone. The camera is pretty mediocre but the battery life was as good as those 3310s. I had an old Sony-Ericsson phone which had a battery that lasted forever as well.

I dug out an old Vivitar camcorder that i impulsively bought on a shopping channel a few years back but i took some pictures and they are awful.

Ok folks, i have taken some photos of yesterdays progress on an old Blackberry curve which has a shockingly bad camera but it's better than nothing.
Only trouble is, i cant find the lead for it or the micro memory card adaptor to plug that into the laptop so i am now in the process of bluetoothing them to a laptop that i am selling that happens to have bluetooth.
Ill pop them up once i have done that, and then it's back to work

Right, finally they have transferred, what a faff.
Ill try to put them up in order and just so you know, they are all taken with the shell on it's side as i need it there to continue this afternoon.
Stiffener and fillet piece welded in
heelboard welded in
jackstand welded on
Bootfloor cut out (well half of it)
And then an overall shot
the outer sill is not welded on yet, just clamped up to check fit.
Not much it seems but alot of prep went into getting those bits done, especially as i don't seem to have a single drill bit that isn't blunt so drilling holes for plug welding was a challenge.
More later
Cheers

One more piece of fresh metal is one less piece of rust. Great as always.

......er i think thats about right??

You need a smart camera. You can upload photos straight to Facebook.

Right, they are uploaded now so i can begin..
So first up was fitting the rear slinging bracket so with the outer sill still clamped on, i squeezed through the gap and pushed it into position
All lined up with the hole in the sill too
So with the position marked with pencil, i took the sill back off and drilled some holes in the slinging bracket ready for plug welding
and then put it back in place and clamped it
and then welded
Nothing holds the other end apart from where the outer sill is plug welded to the face of the bracket so it needed a little tweak to get it to stand up straight
Then i tried the sill again to check position and all is well. I then put the car back the right way up and took another snap of it as it stands. all the gubbins are in now so i am ready for the quarter panel. You will probably notice i have drilled some holes in the part of the heel board where the outer sill sits under ready for plug welding.
Now i need to get the used quarter panel repaired using the repair panel i made a few weeks ago which has been sitting on the bench rusting away
I clamped the quarter back on and lined everything up and then laid my repair piece over the top to mark the position so i can cut the old bit off
and then cut it off about 10mm below the line i drew
I placed the repair piece over the top again and clamped it tightly to the piece where the front of the arch curves at the bottom of the quarter making sure it was straight and true and then marked the cut again.
the reason for this is so i can get the old piece out of the way first to get a more accurate cut line because if i had cut the first line, i would have ended up with a massive gap to weld up.
so here it is after lots of minor trimming to get a roughly even 1mm gap for welding
Now, i don't want any filler in this if i can help it so i need to be VERY careful when welding it so i just started off with a few tacks every few inches waiting for the metal to cool completely before doing the next
It is very important to check before and after every single tack that the two edges remain completely flat to one another so we don't end up with a 'step' which will mean filler
You also need to make sure that the gap remains between the edges because the heat can close it up and if left, the panel will buckle either in or out and be a nightmare to get straight again.
if the gap does close up then i will need to re-cut it with a 1mm disc or one of those really thin small discs in the dremel to avoid any buckling.
i took it back off and popped it on the bench to do the tacks around the front edge and to do a few more tacks between the ones i have done already
I didn't get any more pics until i got it back on the car so the last few just show the fit and finish before i finish the welding
it's looking ok but i decided to leave the welding until tomorrow as i was getting hungry and didn't want to rush into it just so i could pack up and come in.
Cheers
Ben
