How quickly do you get through these things? thinking I will order some but not sure how many to go for....

They last a fair while. i would start off with 2 and then you can gauge how well they are likely to last for you. I can't say exactly because i don't use them all the time everytime so mine last months

I went for 3 in the end, got their first use today stripping some e-coat from my inner wing panels, great find Ben!

I got the idea from Petrol on here.

He phoned me about a problem i had with surface rust after my shell got flood damaged and mentioned them. They really are good.

Hey Gents

I also followed suit.

Managed to get it for a better deal on Amazon and was delivered the next day.

Good piece. Works well.

Glad to be able to help wiuth your thorough build Ben :), any idea what kind of yellow sealant they used for the bungs from factory and if it might still be produced ?

 Hello Ben,

I managed to buy some of these years ago.

When they are new the seal is more the profile of an 'O' ring under the bung. You then fit them into the floor and heat the bungs whilst gently pressing them down.

The sealant is more like a tough hot melt glue. when it has set then you would bend the tangs over to mechanically hold them in place.

Hope that makes sense and is of some help????

Paul.

Thanks Paul. That's a help as i just assumed they were sealed in.

I wonder if they can still be bought?

Unfortunately, I suspect not.

Both the manufacturer (X Part) and the company I bought them from (Somerford Mini Centre) don't list them anymore.

I can't even find a part number to do an international search.

Sorry.

Paul.

Correct.

The diagonal cut on the left of the templates is where it sits over the door step. The bit above will be trimmed to meet the edge of the pane before it is fitted
