Same happened on mine Ben. I trimmed it just enough to leave a flange extension to weld onto the inner wing flange on the rear of the tower gap. I also needed to 'bend' the edge of the bulkhead repair a little to get the inner wing back. All fitting well now though. Nice to see your back on it too :)
Cheers Stu, ill take the grinder out of hibernation tomorrow and make a few small incisions.
I know the door fits spot on with just the hinge panel so i have all the important stuff in the correct place. It's literally just that little overhang on my repair that's stopping it.
It always surprises me how one small bit can have a ripple affect on panel gaps all round the car with the ones furthest away being the worst affected.
I hope to get the door fitting spot on without any spacers so i better work carefully

No set date specifically. It would be nice to take it to IMM 2016 but i can't see that happening at this rate. I would rather have it spot on though than try and rush to get it done for a deadline.
I'm going to get some work done on it tomorrow if i get chance. I'm sick of the sight of it looking like it does but i do have everything to finish the o/s and the n/s doesn't need too much work.
I also have most of the front end already too

MASSIVE UPDATE!!!
Today was the day i decided i was going to get the hinge post and inner wing fitted.
I had a play the other day but it was miles out and i showed you what i thought it was. so to start with, i removed the excess bent bit from my bulkhead repair to allow the inner wing to sit back further.
Here it is marked out
And then cut off and straightened out
My first idea for the next part was to bolt the inner wing to the hinge post and then fit it together.
But, it wouldn't fit in like that so i took it apart again and roughly sat the hinge post in place followed by the inner wing and then clamped it where it touched.
But there was a problem. The bottom hinge holes were miles out and the top was about a hole out so i knew i would have to do alot of work to et it to fit.
Firstly i found that the inner sill and door step panel was 'in' to far so i used some blocks of wood and a scissor jack to roll the top of the inner sill/doorstep out. I took it further than i needed to so that when i released it, it didn't settle back where it started. So with that over a bit, i played about with the fit again and started to get the top holes aligned. I don't want to enlarge the holes at all so it was essential that they lined up perfectly from the offset.
So here is the top holes after some maneuvering and re-clamping.
Still quite a way out but the bottom was even worse!
So in the end, i used a large pair of C clamps and some thin pieces of wood and pulled the edge where the A panel folds to against the a post stiffener and it started coming over so a combination of clamping the hinge panel tot eh inner wing beside the hinge holes and then adjusting the clamps to bring it further and repeating lots of times, i had it almost there.
still not good enough though so i continued until it was bang on and i could get a nut and bolt through each hole.
Pleased with that and it sits quite nicely with the flanges it fits too.
Now i decided to pop the door on to see how it fitted. i was expecting the worst because the hinge panel and inner wing were only fitted basically where i could get them to so it was anyone's guess how it was going to look.
I started off by removing the hinges from the door and then i clamped the hinge panel and inner wing either side of the hinge holes and then removed the bolts. The clamps held it together and stopped it slipping out of alignment again
This is the top one with the bolts removed
And then the Hinge bolted on
And then repeated the same with the bottom to get this
Then i wrestled the door into position taking the weight with my knee and put the screws in to bolt the door to it's hinges. Once tightened, i nervously closed the door.
And this is the result!!
YES!!!
Then i clamped the A panel in place to see how bad the front gaps were and this is what i found
I couldn't believe it! Obviously, it needs some more tweaking to get the fit spot on but not bad at all for a first mock up.
I thought i would clamp the wing in place to see how it fits.
Looks ok.
Then i got carried away and slipped the scuttle in to see how the wing fits to that. And then the Bonnet to see what the wing to bonnet gap was like
And bonnet up
This gap looks ok
Then i thought i would put the other wing on too and see how that fitted to the bonnet.
Not too shabby, if not a tad wide.
Across the back
And overall
It's coming on now!!
Only one thing............... I have now got to take it all back off again to prep it for welding.
