yes, They are very good.

I used them to clean alot of surface rust off of my floors and bulkhead after they got flood damaged. There is a bit about it further back in this thread.

They don't do so well on heavy pitting though.

I just use them for cleaning paint from edges prior to welding usually, especially when butt welding as you need all the thickness you can get when doing so to prevent blowing through.

Don't use them to take off paint from entire panels though because they get hot and just smudge the paint which then ruins the brushes.

Hi Ben

I might try some of these filament wheels I think you mentioned they were better than the wire wheels

Can I ask where you got them from mate ?

By the way keep up the good work it's coming along nicely

Cheers Mark.

More panels are on their way right now so should be some more updates next week.

The filament wheels come from ebay. The set in the picture is about £20 posted which i think is reasonable considering there are almost £7 each individually.

Here is the ebay link mate. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item43ad3b0971

Cheers

A batch of Zinc primer has turned up and i have had dispatch notices issued from the panel suppliers so the bits should be here in a few days.

I won't be working on it much over the next few weeks though as i have an engine swap to do and i'm in a hurry to do it.

PARTS!!!

So that's an A panel, outer sill, door hinge post, inner and outer slinging brackets, jacking point, arch tub to boot floor reinforcer, door hinge fitting kit, battery cable channel, that closing panel behind the heelboard and half a heelboard. Oh and for some reason a scuttle close out panel which i didn't order and isn't on the invoice....

Most of this latest haul is heritage apart from the odd M-machine bits which are as good, if not better than heritage.

Cheers

Ben

Just need to set some time aside to fit it all now!

In those immortal words " lets burn some metal" you need to get busy with the welder Ben.

I need to finish fitting the new engine in my daily before i can do anything i'm afraid.

My garage looks like a breakers yard at the moment with all the engine bits from both my car and the donor car piled up everywhere.

No room to move! Hence why the panels that arrived are in the Mini and not on the bench or on the shelf.

I think i should be able to get cracking with the Mini again next week if all goes well with the daily.

Cheers

Ben

Haha you think you have issues with space Ben, our workshop although cleaned up the other week looks like a bomb has hit it. Doors more doors, engines big and small and a plethora of cars makes for a crowded space. Never enough space.

My mini is pushed up in the corner with stuff piled up round it so no chance of moving it to a position suitable for working right now. It will have to wait.

It's a real nuisance though as the garage is our access in and out of our flat. weird i know!

Still watching and looking good Ben

I have used quite a few of those filament brushes and find the 100mm ones better. Since the bristles are longer and more flexible, they penetrate into crevices much better. They also work out a lot cheaper in the long run. I have also used the blue ones which are much finer - great for polishing alloy.

LOLs at the "breakers yard garage" :D  Mine is pretty much the same at the moment. I guess we all have too much stuff and not enough room :teehee:
