What's wheels are they on your first mini Ben? Cheers
Those wheels are either MAG Product 'super lights' SL500 or MMAA 5x10.

Ben, those bearings are a right pain to get out. I did the same with mine
Just be careful with the vinegar de-rusting as it can effect paint adhesion if you don't get it all off. I would give them a quick once over with the plastic brush in a drill before priming Keep up the good work!

Done exactly that this evening mate!
Here it is all primed up.
I washed and dried it thoroughly once it came out of the vinegar but have been busy since and didn't get it primed so to be sure, i went over it with the brush and then washed it in thinners before priming.

That looks good Ben, getting mine powder coated by a local company. They must be good as Mondo racing use them.

You know more about painting than me but go easy with the gloss where the ball joint goes through the arm and the knuckle fits

I did consider that with mine.
I will be getting some parts powder coated but on the whole most of the running gear, i shall spray myself in batches with 2k black with either a satin or matt lacquer.
I'm not building this car to use daily and it will be kept in a heated garage and always only ever owned by me so will be fastidiously maintained so should be fine

I wouldn't say that! But i have spent years around painters as a panel beater so know the drill.
I am thinking about having the bearings reamed and fitted before painting as i don't want the finish to be scratched, but then again, they will be going to a Mini friendly garage to be done by a very good bloke so i know it will be done with care.
Cheers

Just need to dig out the radius arms, hubs, drive flanges, other front top arm, lower arms.....etc....etc.... and do the same for them.
I just can't seem to get enough time on it at the moment, it seems to always be half hour here and there so i just do what i can

Well after being quoted £150 for both subbies and a box full of various bits to be powder coated i'm going down that route. Plus its something less for me to mess around with.

That is a good price! I have found somewhere here that is going to shot blast my frames but i will probably paint them myself.
I want to try and do as much as i can at home myself and just outsource what i can't do either due to lack of facilities or skill.
The gearbox for instance will go away because it terrifies me

That's the one thing that's sorted. Scott had that done for his engine but i bought the lot off him. just got to build the engine though. If i can outsource i will. Time is short so easier to get somebody else to do the dirty work.

I wish i could outsource work but cash is tight and i am in no hurry to complete so i'm stuck with it.
I would like to get it done so i can drive it but it might end up taking a few more years yet at this rate.
Carlos has offered to come over for a weekend when the bodywork is done to give me a hand to get the subframes on at get it rolling ready for the paint shop so that will be fantastic!
I would like that to be this year. I keep thinking about just getting all of the panels i need in one go so i have no excuse but i have nowhere to store them apart from the garage and i like lots of room to work out there so that would bother me..
