Hi Ben, lovely neat finishing as always, kind of bored by the sight of no welds when I look at your mini :P Hahaha joking of course, I'm as jealous and as envious as everyone else ;p
I wish I could be as clean but I've been feeling a bit butchery recently.

I was reading a catalogue left out at work today (Axeminster) and came across this in it http://www.axminster...ti-rust-coating

I was wondering what you thought of it ? for that price do you think it might be worth buying some and trying it on a sheet piece out side ? It might be too runny though so I was thinking of mixing it with a type of Gel to make a sort of home brew rust agent as daft as it may sound.

Have you read the reviews ?

Oh god!!! I didn't see those no O_O , I just pasted the link as a found it, shows how useful the internet can be over catalogues these days!!!

Good spot by the way

I was looking at a product from the US called Gibbs Brand Lubricant. Says it can be used on bare metal to prevent surface corrosion until youre ready to paint. I might give it a go and see what its like. It also says it can be painted directly over, which I wouldnt do, but if it stops rust forming until your ready to paint its worth trying. Id de grease and prep before painting anyway.

I have had this 3 times (so far).

The first one was worse as I left it for a week so it rusted and my eye closed up. The metal will be picked out with a needle by the docs at A&E and then you get a thick cream to put in to stop any infection. If you have a rust ring around the splinter then you have to go back a few times to have the rust scraped off with a funny vibrating needle (not as fun as it sounds).

The second one I went to A&E the next day so no rust on the eye so doc just picked out with the needle, cream and then home.

Third time I picked the metal out at home with a needle but it was still sore so when to A&E to get it checked. The doc said I did a good job; said it looked deep but I got it all so just gave me the cream :)

I have much better goggles now. A face mask is not good enough for grinding.

Please dear god where good eye protection , i am a welder and have seen no end of injuries , some despite wearing P.P.E . I did where a visor but found i still got stuff in my eye sometimes , bouncing on my chest and up underneath , and even with clear glasses on as well that are mandatory nowadays . Slim googles are good and a visor to stop stuff hitting your face as well as a grinding/welding hood .

Ouch that looks really bad, I got fibreglass in my eye, I lasted 3 days then to A&E they picked it out n some drops n the pain went, horrible paste for a few days n it was tip top, now I allways wear goggles when grinding, and ear defenders(sick of all the crap in my tabs hahaha)

I hope its ok mate

Got 2 pairs of these now. You need 2 pairs so you can swop when they steam up.

Face visors do not work as the sparks bounce.

Strangely I have similar green/blue eyes so maybe they are magnetic LOL

Thanks for the advice guys.

I haven't been to the hospital yet. I was up all night but i managed to get a shower this morning which was hideously hard to do but when i got out, i sat in the chair to get myself together and fell asleep. I woke up a few hours later and the eye didn't hurt so i crawled into bed and only woke up at 5.

I am trying to sort out a lift to the hospital now so fingers crossed!

Ben
