Looks like original floor out of factory, not a weld seam in sight!  Looks marvellous Ben

Thanks mate. You can see the joins when you see it in the flesh but the inside will have the bitumen sound deadening put back which will cover all traces of the joins and the underneath where it has been beefed up at the ridge will be tidied up some more before the stonechip etc goes on.

I was considering a tiny smear of filler just to level it off under there. A bit OTT perhaps but it will look great and i'm talking a mm thick skin just to level it up, not a great big 1" deep load in there

P.s how did you get this all done while at the same time heavily involved in the linking game? lol

I don't spend all that much time in the garage really, I work quickly when it comes to the welding. I have been doing it so many years now, it's no big deal to me.

The prep work will be the time killer as i am a perfectionist when it comes to that. It will probably take me weeks of solid work out there before the primer even goes on.

Well you be happier if it is perfect!  Where do you get the bitumen sound deadening?  May think about that myself

I worked as a panel beater at a Vauxhall main dealer and we used to get it from Wurth in big sheets.

I shall look into that i think. There one was OEM type so should be great. It's also a little thinner than the Original Mini one so will reduce the weight slightly as well as being more efficient.

Flashing tape and that Silent coat is great for the job but doesn't look OEM at all and it's not the look i am going for with this one.

Just take your time. that is the key to it.

If you just quickly buzz over the welds with a grinding stone, it will be lumpy, uneven and you will be left with thin spots which isn't great.

that back part of the join took me 20 mins to grind up and it's still not finished. I could have either left the weld exposed ot ground it roughly but i would never have been satisfied with it
