Thats some hammer skills ben.

Nice to see a step by step also. Helps us hammer & dolly virgins out alot to be honest.

Would also love the space of your garage must make working so much easier than a single up and over like mine.

Thanks mate.

Glad the steps might help others. I try to do it where i can but it usually depends if i have my camera on me or not.

Yeah, the garage is a decent size but still too much clutter in there for my liking. Ill get rid of it all one day!

Cheers

Ben

had a little while in the garage so i finished trimming up my repair piece and it is virtually ready to fit. came out ok in the end.

I looked at the back edge of the arch and there is some slight surface rust which has gone through to a few pinholes in places so i decided to make up a piece to go in there just to be through.

So made a template

Transferred onto steel

P1050437_zps53a97c53.jpg

And cut out

P1050438_zps89ac5728.jpg

Then folded it roughly following the curve of the arch and the curve that runs up the rear seam

Needs some more tweaking to straighten the edges but i will do that once the ols section is cut out of the panel so i can get it in position correctly.

Thanks for looking.

Not really mate. I need to go and get a grinder, that way i can cut the old quarter off, fit my other repair piece, finish the repairs to the reclaimed quarter and get it clamped on. Then i can order my inner sill and get that welded on along with the new post/step. Then ill be flying.

Its surprising how much longer everything takes without power tools!

Going to be ordering a complete inner wing R/H, an inner sill, an arch tub and door hinge panel this week so should make for some decent progress at last.

I was just browsing the internet to see about some bits i need and came across a topic on another Mini forum about a Mini 25.

I read it and the story sounded familiar.

Mini 25 for restoration in South East

Postby Marshall » Fri 20th May 2011, 01:00pm

Hey guys, haven't put this in the for sale section as it's not mine and he's open to offers.

Whilst chasing a shoplifter the other day, I peered under a partially open garage door and found a Mini. Having spoken to the owner, he has confirmed that he is willing to sell it due to too many projects. He does want the owner to restore it to standard if possible.

The car is a B reg Mini 25 limited edition model. Having had a poke around the car myself last night, it actually appears okay for a restoration project.

It will need a new boot floor, A-panels, drivers door, ends of scuttle and has rust forming in one corner of the roof, and a hole in the O/S front corner of the roof.

The wings appear okay, with only surface rust with the front panel, which also appears okay. The sills are genuine, not oversills and seem solid, as it the floor. Looks like some panel work has been done in the past on the car.
The car had an MOT before he garaged it with a view to restore, and the engine ran well. It has a replacement Maniflow centre exit exhaust.

The cars interior and glass has been stripped, the owner has ensured me has has all the parts including the seats and other special edition parts in good condition bar the carpet which he was going to replace.

He is open to offers and I don't think he will want too much. He placed it on ebay, the winning bid was around £160 and the bidder was from America and couldn't get the car across, hence the fact I don't think he'll want much.

I don't have any pics at the moment, but He will hopefully be sending me some.

PM me if you want his name and number. The car is in the Sittingbourne area of Kent.

Go on, give a limited edition Mini a good home and bright future  :)

They are talking about my mini!!

This was from when my cousin briefly owned it before i rescued it back off him.

Funny eh how a random Google search can turn things like this up.

Ben

Well i owned the car in 2001 before selling it on, Then it was sold on again before i bought it back in 2008. Then i had to sell it again due to moving house then bought it back in 2010.

The exert that i found and posted was from when it was owned by my cousin between 08 and 10.

He had told me that the garage was broken and the car was open to the elements which is why i decided to buy it back

I used to attend local shows like southern mini days in paddock wood when i first got into mini's.

This one i am restoring now was the first car i drove when i passed my test, although it was owned by my uncle at that point.

I will not be installing a CD player into it as it will be returned back to factory condition so will have the Austin/Rover cassette player that it was originally supplied with.

This isn't my first Mini, infact it is the 7th Mini i have owned. I will be taking it to some shows once it is finished.
