I bolted the cab down and got the bonnet on in the glorious sunshine last night. I also attempted to start the engine but came unstuck as I couldn't get a spark. Having done a bit of reading this morning it seems ive assembled the Dizzy slightly wrong.

If I were you I would dump the air filter and fit a K & N as what you have does nothing other than add noise to the induction as you thought.  Engine rebuilds aren't cheap. A K & N whilst still noisy would protect the engine from dust particles

Im not too fussed about the filter. Now its oiled up it will suffice. Im re-assembling this for a bit of fun while not spending a fortune.

Hence this bad boy which I had lying around...

Bolted directly to the ladder chassis just behind that rail. Solid as a rock and bound to sound proper 'ricer'.

I now need to shuffle the car over a bit so I can fit the otherside, which I plan to do on Saturday.

So the weather was pretty rubbish over the weekend which meant I spent my Saturday morning driving down to Minispares at Potters Bar to buy loads of screws and fixings for the Jiffy (including a few bits which it turns out I already had...). After I got back I used some of the bits I had bought to assemble the pedal box on the dining room table while it continued to belt it down outside.

The pedal box, steering column mount, and master cylinders all bolt together before bolting into the cab.

And yesterday I bolted it in!

Continuing the recylced parts look I fitted the original door handles from my Mini to the doors. This turned out to be a total pain in the arse with regards to alligment but I now have a drivers door which opens, closes and locks! Dare I say it but some would possibly class this as rat look I guess??

I still need to fit the other door and allign that too, which I will do throughout this week. Once ive done that I can start putting things back into the cab!

Been sorting my girlfriends MG TF which failed its MOT on rusty wishbones but I managed to fit in some time to get the steering column into the JIffy. Its beginning to get to a point where I need to think about putting the wiring harness into the car!

Been quite busy with other things over the last two weeks but managed to get a bit done on the Jiffy. My girlfriends MG TF failed its MoT on wishbones and an exhaust section so I needed to replace them. I also ended up having to replace a lambda sensor and a brake pipe too, both of which I damaged while changing the other parts... That took most of a weekend to do as the wishbones require the front subframe to be dropped from the car, a time consuming process.

Ive also spent a bit of time stripping down a 998 which I have some plans for. I managed to destroy the flywheel and transfer casing but they are surplus to my requirements anyway.

So the Jiffy! Ive now got the headlights in which are new. I had an original set of sealed beam headlights but one of them got damaged so I bought a set of proper bowls with H4 bulbs.

I also fitted the rubber bonnet hook on the passenger side and am nearly ready to fit the passenger door. I have all the holes drilled and bolts cut so I just need to attach the door and line it up. Once that is done I can start on the interior and wiring.

Ive got some more done today while the sun is shining. Ive fitted the cab with carpet so that the bare un-coated fibreglass isnt on show.

Started with the back panel behind the seats.

Then moved onto the roof. I did a before and after. The screwdriver is marking the hole for the rear view mirror.

DSC_0472_zps7nedavjh.jpg

It took quite a while to work out all the creases but I managed it in the end. This is half way through the side bolsters.

Then bolsters with the seatbelts.

DSC_0476_zpsaa3cdliz.jpg

Not worried about the cuts in the fabric near the base as you cant see them with the seats in. Speaking of... I now have the seats back in!

Finally, I dont have any window latch mechanisms on the sliding windows and ive got virtually no chance in finding exact replacements. Therefor a bolt with some scrap carpet will suffice!

Now I can open and close the sliding windows a bit easier.

This evening I filled the garden with the glourious sound of a rough running A-series engine! She lives! The timing is miles out and I think its running rich but it runs, which is a start. I can fit the wiring now, knowing that the engine runs with basic wiring.

Cant figure out how to embed a video but I took a short clip of the engine running.

Don't worry, I'll give it a shifty tune at MITP!!
