Im off to the scrapyard this morning to find some cars to cannibalise for the Jiffy. I plan to get a backbox from some sort of 1 litre(ish) car, a length of wiring loom (Im hoping a Metro/100 has similar wiring colours to a Mini) and maybe some rear light clusters if they have a lorry or something similar in, which they usually do. Might be able to pilfer some other bits like carpet or insulation too.

Tom, if you havent got one yet, the mid section and rear box off of a Metro is IDEAL, as it goes up and over the rear axle very well!!!

Cost me £400 but there are a few bits missing. Will probably owe me less than a grand once its back on the road though.
I was quite ill last week so its been a fortnight since I have managed to do anything to it but I shall be back at it this weekend and pictures will follow.

Managed to get a bit of work done on the Jiffy this weekend.
I did some servicing on the engine. New oil filter and some gaskets including bolting the rocker cover down as it came without the bolts. I still need to get a pancake filter or something for the air filter.
Also managed to put the front and rear screen fillet in. The front one was a right pain in the arse and took a good hour. It also took several hours to get the glass in the rubber. I think its because the fibreglass frame is thicker than the metal the rubber would usually sit on.
I also found this 'ricer' exhaust in the shed which I had completely forgotten about. I took it off a Polo breadvan I had years ago. Definitely adds at least 20bhp... Guess where its going??

Also some bits and pieces ive gathered for doing the lighting.
Rear trailer lights and a fog light, which im wiring up with 7 core wire for trailers because its simpler to pipe to the rear than a bunch of wires. The foglight and the horn were from my trip to the scrappy
A reversing light was not fitted before and ive decided to keep it that way. It would require a seperate switch anyway as the remote change alloy casing doesnt facilitate a switch for reverse.

I cut the exhaust down today to try and get the cheapo aftermarket one to fit. I need to get some sort of bracket for it to actually fit it.
I also wired up the engine to see if I could get it started. Although it turned over and fuel was getting in the cylinders it wasnt starting. I think the points and such are knackered along with the coil so i will get new service parts and try again. Would be nice to get it running.

Also cleaned up the Clubman front indicator blocks this weekend. Unfortunately they have had a very hard life and the frame is corroded and thin on the one missing the reflecting insert (for want of a better name!). Most bolts and screws are missing as well as all the bulb holders needing replacing. Partly because every one of them was a different holder and bulb type with various plugs and connectors.
This is them after a clean.
If anyone has a spare single or pair of these type of static Kangol seat belts i would be interested in them as I am missing one.
Lets play spot the Jiffy parts!
My shed is dominated by them at the moment along with other Mini bits. A lot are in the boxes and tubs littered round. The finished wiring loom is hanging up with the strimmer. Apart from nuts and bolts I am now only missing a few bits before I can get most of it back together. However, the missing bits are very Jiffy specific and proving tough to find...

This is the tipper version of the jiffy a five year gradual restoration in which every mechanical part apart from the engine and tipper Hydraulics have been replaced.
Makes a super ute and is a chinch to work on.
In the process at this time of replacing the tipper body and while that is being made have replaced the worn out nylon bushes in the rear springs with oilite bushes, this requires a days work removing the springs and pressing in the oilite bushes.
Most of the electrical parts and wiring to the front as been replaced.
Would advise you that if you are going to replace or fit parts as was use new as the parts will soon let you know if they are inferior as this shows up when you start working the vehicle.
