Nice tidy MPI, I'd keep it standard. They look good standard in my opinion.

Thank you, that's the plan. I will keep it virtually standard visually (the biggest modification will be a GB badge on the boot haha) but upgrade it under the skin. I love the way they look standard too, so it won't be changing looks-wise. I did think about possibly going to 13x6 Superlites in the future, but decided against it almost straight away.

Top banana
Haha thanks man. I appreciate your enthusiasm.
Some new headlamp rings went on today, a huge improvement over the old pitted and tarnished ones. They were even dented as well, which I didn't realise until I had them off. I nice quick, cheap fix which has made a surprising difference to the Mini's face. I promise pictures will follow sometime soon.
lol no worries. I'm tempted to get a new rear bumper for mine. Minispares have genuine rear bumpers back instock. Mine is dented and has been since i bought it 7 years ago!!

Mine needs new bumpers front and rear, but I went with a Wood&Pickett one (didn't buy 2 just in case they didn't fit very well) since MiniSpares were out of stock of the genuine ones at the time. I still haven't fitted it yet but I'm worried the quality won't be up there with the Mini Spares versions. It was more expensive too. Click

Right, so I've just fitted the W&P MPi stainless steel bumper that I bought from their eBay shop. To be honest, I'm pretty disappointed in the quality of it - the chrome finish is great but the shape of the bumper was seriously off, it was/is very bent. When I first lined it up (on the front) the outer bolts were in roughly the right place but the centre one was about half an inch out! Not very impressed considering it cost me near enough £50. It looks great on the car but it was a real pig to fit, I will be going with Mini Spares next time whose bumpers are cheaper and supposedly of better quality. I'll try and get some pics up sometime this week.

Your Cooper looks lovely. As much as I like older minis, I do have a soft spot for the later MPi's.
Nice number plate too
Thank you, it's actually the original plate, first registered in Reading. It's one of the reasons why the car jumped out at me among the hundreds of others for sale. This one's a keeper, my first car and one that will, hopefully, stay with me for the rest of my life. Yes, I really do love it that much.

Thanks, I must admit I'm a big fan of your MPi, it's very clean looking.

OK, here are the pictures as promised, post polishing and waxing. For my fellow detailing obsessives, I used Auto Glym Super Resin Polish (including on the brightwork) and Meguiar's Ultimate Liquid Wax (amazing stuff, highly recommended). Here is the end result, albeit after a couple of weeks under the car cover outside, so it looked better immediately after applying the wax.

Who doesn't love shiny things?
Genuine GB badge from Somerford Mini. I also fitted a new grille surround top trim (the shiny bit that fits on to the bottom of the bonnet), so the front brightwork is finished now - new bumper, headlamp rings, grille ends, grill surround top, and I also took the grille off and polished it. That saved the expense of a new grille because it came up really well.
I've also just started trying to get the original dealer sticker, tax disc and number plates reproduced. Thanks to a lot of research and a very kind member of the mg rover forum, I can now have these reproduced to match the originals and put them on the car.
