There Denovos were standard equipment on the 1275GTs for a few years and an option on the Clubman. The tyres are no longer available now and any you might find would be too old to risk using on the road. I think the rim is an odd metric size so you can not fit standard tyres to them so they are pretty much useless unless you want to build a concours standard restoration. As for value, what's the price for scrap steel.

You can fit conventional 12" tyres.

The Denovo's were 310mm wheels which is 12.204" and they are not convertable to a standard 12" tyre and have been scrap now for a number of years, Dunlop offered a 12" standard conversion back in the day as the Denovo's only were fitted for a short while.

It had a deeper bead well to keep the tyres bead on the rim in the event of a puncture, and later Morphed on the twin lip 315mm tyre on the Metro

I'm sure I remember people putting regular tyres on 1275`s because of cost, but happy to be corrected. Maybeit was notable because it was a bit dodgy. The metric Metro tyres just appeared out of the blue, I don't think there was any link to Denovo.

My brother bought a brand new 1275 GT ('P' registered) with these fitted as standard.

The tyres were dear even then.

Both sides of the rim were unbolted to remove the tyres.

There was a wire band that ran around the bottom of the well attached to which at interval were little containers of goo, If the tyre deflated the little containers fractured releasing the goo which lubricated the rubber and produced enough pressure in the tyre to continue to run. Guess it must have sealed the hole as well. Wouldn't have worked if the hole was a big gash though would it?

Don't remember if he ever had a puncture.

I loved that car though even though it wasn't mine. Reynard metallic, which wasn't very stable and needed some spraying done under warranty and lots of rust.

The rubbish that you remember!
