They designed to change the beam for when driving abroad.

There is no law against using a Yellow Lamin-X tint on them however, ASFAIK.

The yellow covers with beam deflectors are from way back when you had to have yellow headlamps to drive in France, they did beam converting and colouring in one. They aren't illegal, but they kill your dipped beam because that's what they are designed for.

The yellow convertors were originally made for France where yellow headlamos were required, but not now. Unless the law has been changed, it is illegal to display anything but a white light to the front. This obviously does not include flasher lamps, but does cover permanently on lights.

So there probably is a law against them and yellow film.

Question! Since Mini lights in modern terms are so poor, why do you want to use anything that reduces the glow from them?

Mini headlights are bad enough already when compared to modern car lights and to lose around 14% of the available light with a yellow filter is not exactly advisable.
Anyway, who wants to look like a 1960's French person?
When we used to go to France when they had to haqve yellow lights how they hated our white (and thus better) lights. It was never a requirement for a UK registered (or a German or Dutch one, etc) car to have yellow lights and whit elights were legal in France for foreign (to them) cars, so long as the dip beam was adjusted to prevent a RHD car from causing dazzle.

When we got thick fog back in the early 60's a guy we knew fitted yellow bulbs to his fog-lights. he said that he got much less glare with the yellow ones in thick fog. My great Mini-driving buddy pointed out that yes, less light = less glare.
