My rev counter started working intermittently and it's gradually working less and less. How would I sort it out? It's a 92 Mayfair with a carb. Thanking you muchly :)

This is the stand binicle rev counter? Before you answer I would check the connections and does the rev counter jump when you click the ignition on? does it work at all now? and if so whats it reading

I've never noticed it jump even when it was working. It works for like a minute or so but then just dies and reads 0 the majority of the time. It's a standard offset 3 binnacle.

The connections are a problem on the PCB and worth stripping the binicle and checking the circuit board main connections and the connections to the rev counter some have cleaned the connections with a emery board carefully.

Check the wires on the back of the clocks.
Theirs a live from the battery (spade terminal) and the trigger wire (bullet terminal) and the earth is on the printed circuit board (if theres a brake in the earth, good luck finding it lol).
If the connections are tight, run an earth to one of the screws that are on the back of the rev counter.
This should solve the problem or tell you if the rev counter needs replacing.

I'll give it a look tomorrow night. Would it fail it's MOT because of it?

It's not an MOT failure

Just noticed that the revcounter does jump when running. Does this change anything?
