I am the same when it comes to the time to fit mine, I think I am going with undertaking mirror as well just because it isnt a permanent. Think either look really nice and period though...

thanks daz I might fit some as it would set it of but fitting them getting them in line would be difficult lol cheers TomI don't think the wing mirrors were standard fitment but would have been a common option at the time. I chose not to fit any on mine but driving would be easier if I had them. If I found some new old stock period mirrors I would probably fit some.
I must say though the car is looking superb and I can confirm the stage you are at now is the most time consuming and difficult, then once the car on the road expect a few niggles until it settles down.

thanks Rhys don't you have some on the one you just sold? Did you have to drill them or holes already there ?If you dont want to fit wing mirrors I would highly recommend an overtaking mirror like I have fitted to mine it sits on the seam and has rubber pads between the clamps and grub screws so no damage to the body work if removed at a later date.

did it not sell on eBay? Also it's going to be fun to get these in line then lolI still have my mk1 luckly I drilled mine before paint what I did with mine was lay the old wings onto the top of the newly fitted wings (before paint) masking tape and draw on the holes then I measure down from the inner wings down to make sure they were the same distance down then measured out from the inner wing down to the wheel arch to make sure both holes were equal before drilling them out. Then wing mirrors are desmo wing mirrors they definitely set of the final look of the mk1.
Mine fitted

thats a lovely looking minor you have there Pete and ino one mistake and ile have to get the wing repainted or live with how I do it. Ile measure twice before drilling hehe and thankyou it has been an adventure this project 😀I can't bring myself to drill holes in the fresh wings on my '57 Minor so I have put a round period clip on one on it, does the job and being pre '60 it does not need an MOT anyway!
I am loving your car Tom, loving it!
