Not sure about the start button but pretty sure it should have a solenoid... There was one at garage I help at some times thats a 64 and had one..

thanks mate I spoke to mini spares and they said my year car doesn't need a solonoid so I don't no why they sold me one in first place lol cheers Tom

Awesome, good to hear. Two amazing looking minis :D So what's next after this is finished and gave the White one a spuce up? I'd love to see you get your hands on a van or pickup and bring it back to life like you have this

The wire that goes to solenoid comes out of loom with heater wires under dash then goes through a grommet in front of floor near bulkhead then connects to terminal on solenoid will look as i have a wiring diagram

I have checked wiring diagram and the wire feeds direct to terminal a on the regulator box, this then feeds to fuse box.
If you look on this picture you can see the grommet and wire in floor, I had cut the wire to remove loom as at the time I didn't know what the wire was, I ended up rejoining it later

Is it the one that goes threw above the gear shift? I think I am missing this wire on the loom as I didn't take one out I'm going to have a look on my early pictures should be able to locate it if not it must of run under the body straight up to the fuse box ..

Cheers daz can I pick your brains on where and what type of parts you had for yours? I need a fuel pump heater matrix front and back bumpers with over riders on a 63? Heater hoses from engine to matrix and from matrix to windscreen. And lastly did you fit an electronic ignition or stick to the old? Cheers Tom

I bought the genuine stainless bumpers with the turned ends so not sharp, they were only ones that I could find that suited profile of over riders. The over riders I stole off my cooper but they were just genuine steel chrome plated ones. I re used all other parts you mention. As for ignition I just stuck with standard points and condensor but have an aldon igniter on my cooper and they are good, I kept mine positive earth also. With the fuel pump I would use a genuine su one rather than the mini spares repro ones. No need for electronic one as points are reliable if car used a little. If I needed any hoses I would use silicon hoses in Matt black rubber finish it's what I have used on other cars, I hate new rubber parts as they are useless. I would also use old driveshaft and steering rack gaiters if you can as new ones don't last at all.

I paid £40 each for bumpers at NEC and mine only had over riders and no corner bars but I saw them at last years mini national day about £8 each boxed so bought a couple. You could always just buy bumpers and pick rest up at Stanford show

Yeh I done this last time to my first mini I built I brought cheap bumpers and put the over rider kit on to them. The bumpers are now rusted and holes in them lol. I'm not sure if stainless is the best to have these days? I heard they rust just as bad.
