Just spent the last hours combing through this thread.  Your did a great job! Your car would be worth a mint over here.  I'm starting a US mk1 and the people over here are calling it a pile of scrap and not worth the effort...This thread is a huge motivation, thanks!

thanks mate I am at the stage of putting the brake lines in and sorting out the push start button I need to buy a few bits again lol ile upload some pictures the weekend cheers Tom

hi thanks she has definitely changed from when I brought her at the start of the build I didn't think myself it was possible but with all the encouragement of here I soon got her back. Thanks Tom

Can anyone tell me please how the push start button works I have the main cable coming from battery to starter I need to cut this and connect it to the push start button? Also do I need a solonoid for this year car? Cheers Tom

Not sure about the start button but pretty sure it should have a solenoid... There was one at garage I help at some times thats a 64 and had one..

No solenoid, the button is the solenoid but manually operated. The battery cable runs to the rearmost terminal and another battery cable from front terminal to starter. There is a thin wire from rear terminal that takes main power to fusebox. It runs inside car and through floor near bulkhead.

hi daz could you do me a favour and tell me where about the wire comes threw the floor to fuse box? I can't remember seeing this when I stripped it it might of rotted away lol cheers Tom

Update got brake lines in place got original radiator cleaned up best it can turn out from elbow power! Also windscreen washer bottle cleaned the best I can I was going to buy new but reusing the original parts also saving a few quid. Getting there slowly can't wait 😀
