The finishing can be expensive, I was lucky as had collected a lot of parts over the last few years so had a lot in stock but I found parts for the early cars are not easy to find anyway. I was lucky on some items like the exhaust as I had bought a new one from mini spares only to find it difficult to fit with the floor start but luckily picked up a new pre 64 van exhaust so just cut it down. In case you need it the newton commercial carpet is cheaper from mini spares than direct from newton. Keep at it though as will be worth it. I enjoyed my first drive. I was amazed at the attention it got when I parked it up at the mot station.

Hi daz I brought the new carpet set from Newton at a mini show. I didn't no mini spares do them cheaper.. The carpet set is a nice fit and feels good quality compared to other carpet sets I have seen with beaver cut edges lol. Yes I'm not looking forward to the exhaust I remember you saying you had trouble. Cheers Tom

hi all got the body up on accrows and fitted the tank in tonight and re fitted the rear lights as they wasn't fully bolted in and the gasket seals wasn't tight enough against the body i had to file the holes out a bit more to allow the lights to push in more. the petrol tank neck is really tight on the rubber neck seal it will not push out anymore then this i am hoping petrol cap fits on i am pretty sure it was like this when i removed it tho early pictures will tell me if it was or not..

i don't suppose anyone knows what wires these are? i have the tank wires in and the bootlid wires but these ones are on there own at the back and there's not enough wire there to bring towards the bootlid  at first i thought reverse light fog light? but they don't have them ? here is some piccys cheers tom

Are they the fuel pump wires as they go through floor there. Also do you have a foam seal on tank neck before fitting tank as I had to fit tank without as I couldn't get it in properly otherwise.
not many wires on a mini so should be able to sort with use of diagram.

excellent daz your right they are i never give it a fort. yes i put a neck foam seal but it was a white thin type i dont think it even touching the body.. you no when you fastened your tank strap was it hard to get to the bolt head? mine took me ages today to try and access it. im thinking i have something wrong. i have the little piece of strap coming from the seat bulkhead and then the longer piece from the boot floor up to a long bolt in the middle that tightens up? this how you done yours mate? cheers tom

It was not easy to fasten from what I remember also had a bit of trouble with the drain tap on bottom. I fitted tank first then put drain screw in from under car, if tank in correct position then this drain will be in line with large hole in floor. I couldn't tighten bolts on tank strap to floor with tank in I had to tighten them before fitting tank then just use long one on centre of strap to secure tank

Mine just had a bleed screw similar to a brake cylinder but with a short length of pipe that's very close to floor which is why I left it out while fitting tank. As long as you can fit the cap on though I wouldn't worry about how much it stands proud, I also found a new tank neck seal very tight and ended up putting some soap on it to get tank in
