Did I read correctly in that someone else is repairing your parcel shelf ? A man of your calibre you would have walked it 😃

Know what you mean about money wall! I've got to raise lots more funds yet, as I still need a few big panels and such before I even get to paint stage. Luckily though for me, I have a good friend who is painting mine for me.
On a plus note, my back panel turned up today from m machine, with a few little other bits. One step closer to getting a roof back on mine hahah

Tom, I seriously think you should paint it yourself, I know if I didn't have a mates rates paint job lined up, I would be doing mine myself!

Give it a bash yourself. You'll only gain another skill, so go for it.

You can always have a go and start with underside and interior as you will get practice there. I have found hb body 989 epoxy 2k high build primer is very good and as no isocyanate doesn't need airfed it can be over coated with cellulose or 2k top coats I went for 2k gloss but equipment to do a good job isn't cheap but I have another few projects to do, the high build will also give you some practice so then you can decide if you want to do the top coat.

Might as well mate, absolute worst case scenario if you mess it up you'll just need to flat it back and just get someone else to blow it over.

I painted mine using cellulose paint and I put about 7 or 8 coats on over a few days, that gave me enough thickness of paint to flat out any orange peel and still leave loads of depth for future polishing if needed.
