Yeah they are different, might be and more than likely because its a convertable mini, they put alot more structure and strenth into the shell to compensate for the lack of roof support so might be yet again different to mk1 saloons, i'l do abit of digging but tuppers and his guys were he works will know for sure

Look's good tom, alot easyer than buying one? Are you sure the angle bit of it is suposed to go above the seam, I would have thought it would weld to the seam but I may be wrong.

I would, but before you do clamp it in place, mark where the shock mount nuts are and drill them. And stick some primer behinde it if you haven't already.

I think they look spot on T great fab work.
As for the holes, to go with originality i'd say put them in, also to let the layers on steel "breath" and not build up condensation and rot form within it seems somewhat logical to put them in with a skin venting hole
One thing you definatly need to do is get rid of 100% of the rust, be it surface or pitted rust and then prime with a zinc rich prime and then something meaty like chassis paint.
Have you seen Petrol's build thread ? Take a read on the seam clean up and protection points, think the last few pages he's done a little right up and pointed out how and what he uses:
http://www.theminifo...rebuild/page-25
Take your time and read ever bit so you understand what his proccesses are, intresting as to how much most rebuilds don't get in terms of rust, painting a shell whilst having not opened the seams and got rid of the rust which will bite back seems crazy.
