Thanks peeps currently got engine running needs timing up and I'm having trouble with charging system as currently have electronic ignition and I have made it negative earth and running a Dynamo. I have flashed the Dynamo to polarise it but I think I have blown it so I am going to get a alternator Dynamo and wire that in once it's all finished I will then strip it back down and redo some bits again as not 100% happy with bits around the body and running gear needs abit more attention can not wait to test drive it tho cheers Tom

I had issues with charging and thought was dynamo ended up being control box points and connections, please do a simple test on the dynamo, remove fan belt and connect both terminals together and connect these to battery positive, also ensure body of dynamo is connected to negative, but as it's on car it should be already, the dynamo should then run like a motor. If this works then problem won't be with dynamo. If the dynamo is working ok then I could pop over and run a few tests same as I did on mine. Just let me know.
But glad you got it running.

Cheers grahama and cheers daz I could do with you popping over to check it out I'm going to get a alternator dynamo fit this while I fit a metal fan blade as I have plastic atm. If you can pop over that would be great I have heard of getting rid of the control box as I won't need it? If yours is working fine ile do the same as yours mate cheers tom

To keep the period look you can link our the control box /voltage regulator from behind it. It will then act as a joint box I did it to my mk1 found the guide online Google search

Easiest way is to buy the dummy control box as it has fuses in to protect the alternator, but unless you are fitting extra electrics the dynamo should be fine, the weak point is the control box and wiring especially when not used the car for a while.
