Sooner or later it'll become economical to repair cracked heads, the question just remains do you want to hang onto it until then...

Also I read recently, that Swifttune are reproducing the 12G940 casting

£2750 is an aweful lot. Billet heads are cheaper than that.

Not really as I believe in historical racing you have to use original specification parts, so billet and aluminium heads are a no no...

One might wonder how many they will actually sell at that price. I guess they did their market research first though.
As yet, the 940 head is not in short supply (haven't counted how many I have on my 'head shelf', but it's several.
What are going to be in short supply ar cylinder blocks as people take them out to 1380 or bigger, then need a new block when that one is worn or have to spend a fortune trying to sleeve it back to a re-useable size. There was talk of new 1275 'S' blocks, but if a re-cast head is that price, how much would an 'S' block need to be priced at?

Has the head got unleaded valve seats? If so, couldn't the valve seat just be replaced? Or is it the actual head that's cracked?

It's always the head that cracks between the two valves, which effectively scraps the head.

the crack runs up from behind the valve through the seat and is heading towards one of the water ports

MED have just done my head, but after they finished it, they realised that there was a similar crack.

They scraped it and started again!

I would keep it in case it is one day economically viable to repair!

I've got a couple of 12g940 heads, and 3 1275 blocks squirreled away!

I've greased the bores of the blocks and wrapped them in cling film!
