I've got a '63 Mk1 to which I plan to fit a set of crossply tyres, as much for the correct period look at shows as anything else. (I'll keep a set of radials as well) Spare set of 10" steel wheels currently away being powder coated Old English White. The only tyres I can find are Camac 520 x 10. Anybody using these and what are they like?, any alternatives available?

I used to be the Sales Manager for one of the UK Biggest Tyre companies and unless you go to the likes of Vintage Tyre supplies who have all the old Dunlop Moulds that all there seems available, Camac do a range of old sizes and for what they are there not to bad, but some still like the Dunlop name on the sidewalll to finish the job.

UPDATE-Just checked with them and they only have 520-10 Camac or 145-10 Dunlop Aquajets at the moment

The Dunlops do look good, but it's definitely cross plys I'm after - handling and performance not the 850's primary goal!

Does anyone remember the old 145 x 10 Dunlop SP3, or even the Dunlop Duraband RB1, which was Dunlop's first radial tyre in a Mini size? The RB1 was available from 1961 and he SP3 from about 1962/63. At the time we thought the SP3 was absolutely awesome.

Not driven on them yet cause it was such a crappy rainy day, except back into the garage, steering feeling really light! Looking forward to a run on a good day,
