Best Wheel Size - Hill Climbs And Sprints?

I really fancy doing away with arch extensions and running 4.5x10s. But would be interested to know how this will differ from using say 6x10s, both using A032 165s for example?
How does handling, grip, stability etc change?
(There is a tendency to think wider is better, although to some extent this it true (comparing to the orginal 3.5" wheel, there must be a point where the benefits reduce. eg 7x13s or that miglias use 7x10s with slicks. Having said that historics use the narrower widths.)

Wider tyres on 7x13 rims under optimum conditions like a race track offer more grip if you can get the compound working and up to temperature, where as hill climbs and sprints are short and squirt so maybe more of a problem, most of the hill climb Minis down here In Cornwall run 10s

I actually use 6 x 12's with A539 yoko's on for roadgoing class, with the option of AO48's where 1b tyres are allowed.
To me the suspension makes more sense without all the 10" sidewall defection and roll etc, but thats probably because my car setup background isnt just minis. I like it, but for you 10's would suit no arches better, looks wise!
You just need to gear it to suit the rolling circumference of whatever.

For List 1B, Yoko do a medium compound 048 (ie softer than normal ones) for 13x6, that's what I'm moving to now from 12s. That should be the quickest combo for sprints that allow 1B tyres.
For 12 and 13 inch wheels and List 1A (eg Harewood and some other northern events), there aren't any decent tyres at all. A539s are too hard, I even tried shaving them to no avail.
On 10 inch wheels you can run A008s which are probably the best List 1A rubber there is. I can't fit 10 inch wheels over my brakes though.

We used to have 145/80 x 10 on the original 3.5" wheels.
If you are allowed racing slick tyres, then a 7" x 10" would be good.
