Do any of you actually race your minis?
We do. I've become a bit of a dab hand at setting them up.

Awesome looks pics guys.
I used to quite into my RC cars as a lad and still have all my old mardave stuff in the shed somewhere.
Had a cobra and beetle chassis but would love to be able to make one the same as my van.
Any ideas if a van body is possible? perhaps these newfangled 3d printers would be able to do one!

you can buy estate shells that if you just paint over the rear window would look like a van, although there would still be a bit of window detail visible... I have one just haven't cut it out or painted it yet You can also get pick ups

There's a Countryman body which is close, I don't know there's an actual van chassis available..

Or, you can buy a pick up chassis. I don't know how you'd start it

Either that, or you could probably vaccuum form one? A lot cheaper than 3D printing (although a 3d-printed one would be infinitely cooler!)

Wicked thanks Paul, I didn't know such a thing existed. Will have to dig my mardave chassis out and see if its the right length.

Ah god this is making me want to get on with mine! A member from our club (Essex Mini Club) had his Tamiya Mini RC on show next to his real thing at L2B just gone. Did anyone see it? It was a Grey coloured one, even had Terrys numberplate, John Cooper decals, exhaust pipe, the lot! It attracted a lot of attention, epecially from the kiddies, they were amazed by it haha

Had a look at my mardave chassis thats been in the shed for 10odd years.
Bloody mice have eaten all the rubber tires and the wire to the servos!
Will have to see if I can get some cheap parts off ebay or something.

I use our 1/10 set up gear on ours.
You can if you set the steering linages with a digital callipers so they are both the same length. Also the slop is completely normal and helps makes the car much more forgiving, if you go and start shimming out all of the play in the steering and suspension you'll just end up with something that will handle odd and won't drive straight.

Until I get round to buying another shelving unit, I've found somewhere in the garage to hang all of my Tamiya minis in one place.
