I found the best place have the pole is through the bulkhead hole and through the back panel of the rear seat. (early models have a hole there) If not drill one you can weld it back after. Made the center of gravity better, easier to spin
1st one we did we fixed pole to rear parcel shelf and it didn't spin so easy

This is what i've built and used for my MG-Midget and Mini's
Did you use any bearings in yours or just a pipe inside a pipe?
