Sounds great Tom. I am doing something very similar this summer. A clockwise trip of Europe. 12+ countries. Switzerland will be the highlight.

Check out the 'San Bernadino Pass' (Switz), 'Oberalp Pass' (Switz) and one for luck 'Col de Turini' (France), the classic Monte Carlo Rally stage. These 3 are on my check list however not for the faint-hearted I have heard.... knowing that driving is on the right and so are the drivers' eyes swinging round the outside of a left-hand cliff bend. Sounds epic though.

ok cheers 62s i stoped at a ibis before they are ideal. how far would a full tank get you would it get me from halesowen down to dover you rekon?

I would advise fitting twin tanks if you can........will save you a lot of time in long run, petrol stops eat time and the motorway service areas often have queues in peak summer holiday season. Smaller garages are often not self-service and very slow when you are in a hurry.......or shut for their 2 hour lunch break in France!

Put your planned route (start/destination) and size of car into the Mappy.com route planner and it will estimate your fuel costs and any motorway tolls which can mount up if you use them. It works for UK roads also.

Many supermarkets in France now have automated pumps that you can use with your UK debit/credit card 24/7.

MPG depends greatly on the cars spec. and how you drive it.
