I did a similar trip 40 years in a nail of an Avenger it sprung an engine oil leak a couple of days before we set off so I took a gallon of oil -:) one of the best experiences and most enjoyable trips of my life. Dover Calais onto Paris and on down to Monte Carlo via the Alps, stunning scenery great driving final destination a little camp site across the road from the beach a couple of miles from St Tropaz.
Depending on whether you mini is points or electronic I would say take set of points, spare coil, condenser, spare bulbs, oil, and head off and have the time of your life im envious you will have a great time.

cheers pal will check it outGood route. Instead of Auverne, on the way to Cannes swing by the Gorge du Verdon ( Grand Canyon of Europe), great mini roads as well! Get to Cannes via Grasse for visit to Fragonard perfum factory and cheap perfumes. Then col de Turini !

The French Campanile Hotels are cheap for overnight stops all over France......small with only 1 or 2 floors and you park your car right outside the room rather like the American Motels.
This is a good European route planner which also calculates fuel and motorway tolls:

We Took camping gear the weather in the south of france is usually pretty good, my brother inlaw was towing a caravan, it was a real laugh and really had some fun although Paris at midnight is a pain in the butt they are all mad, we missed a sign and finished up in the centre took us an hour to escape, after that it was just great drving.
To be honest I took few tools, plug spanner points, bit of electrical wire, bulbs, screw drivers and that was it, you could add a spare thermostat, nothing heavy or bulky.
Have fun Tom and dont forget the camera

Don't try to cover too many miles in a day with a classic Mini, I have driven from London to Swiss border and also London to Millau Bridge in just one day in modern cars but would not recommend trying to do that in a classic Mini!

good ?
if you get a clear day the views are amazing, well worth the trip. can't for the life of me remember the name of the highest one but you can drive almost to the top then a bit of a walk the rest of the way.

cheers mate how much did you end up spending petrol and b&b? how long you go for?Have done this trip several times but usually go direct through France, stop halfway at Beaune or Chalon-sur-Saone and then on through Switzerland over the Alps the next day and into Italy. You will love the roads and spectacular scenery!
