hi all, got a hot 998 a+ which i built a close ratio straight cut gearbox for, now im a bit older and insurance is dropping, im starting a 1380 build. so will my gearbox bolt straight onto a 1275 block or will i need to transfer it all into a 1275 casing? thanks alot :)

in short the answer is yes but you will have to decide wither the final drive is suitable for your engine and if you change this you will have to change the speedo drive gears on the side of the gearbox, but neither of these is a big job, the casings for 998 and 1275 are identical along with all the gears, only difference is several different ratios of final drive, these will fit any engine but will end up a really high reving engine at low speed is unsuitable

You need to watch out for the different sizes in primary gears the 1275 has a bigger crank at the primary gears diameter, so the 998 primary gear wont fit a 1275 and visa versa, also check idler gear bearing size.
