Hi all,
I have a question, has any looked into relocating the oil filter from the side of the motor (in this case a 1310) to the inside of the RHS mud guard. I am looking to do this for 2 main reasons ... to make room for a A.C. condenser and to make oil changes easier (I can be a lazy bugger).
Any pit fall, pro's and con's. I am rebuilding my mini from the ground up so it is a good time to make some major plumbing changes.
Thanks all
Stuart

I know the classic VW guys relocate the oil filter almost anywhere. As long as you can run the lines without crimping or chaffing, you'll be fine.
I'm also curious about how you plan to fit AC in your Mini...

a few people relocate to the offside inner wing and have seen brackets on the bell housing.
AC? can you afford to loose more power on a mini engine?
I want to get rid of the normal water pump fan because it drains HP imagine the loss on a AC condenser got to be near 10-15%

Hi guys,
Thanks for he information.
I know the ac will eat into the hp ... but the minister for war and finance (who lets me spend money on the mini) said she would like it ac-ed ,,, so there you go,
Stuart

I once saw a Migure Hill Climb Mini Engine destroyed when a stone off the tyre punctured the oil filter canister, just need to be aware of any flying objects which can come into contact with any high pressure components, and bear in mind any canister in a wheel arch area in the wet could turn the canister into a oil cooler and drop the oil temperature down to a undesirible level.

normally when im making up oil lines for a car i try to keep the hose's to a minimum length, When i changed oil cooler hoses on my race MGC GTS the oil pressure was much better off due to the expansion of the hoses was less. On a road/fast road engine then it doesn't really matter but on full chat engines then i would recommend using top quality hose's and keep length to a minimum.
Also as kernowCooper said make sure you keep oil/water hoses out of harms way, coolers and filters in a safe place, the amount of times ive had ruined turbo cars in with dead engines or turbos because they have put their intercooler out side and a giant stone has gone though it and all the dirt of the road has ruined a turbo or engine
